Hello

I will be buying a Plasma or a LED TV this festive season for my bedroom. Budget is around 2 lakhs. Viewing distance is 9.5 - 10 feet approx.

Which TV do you guys suggest? I would prefer buying a Samsung TV, really like their smart features a lot. Unable to decide between PS64F8500 (Plasma) and the 55 inch series 6, 7 or 8.

Is the PS64F8500 too big for the distance that i will be watching the TV from? Will the power consumption be much higher? Currently have a LG 50PK550, haven't had a problem so far with image retention or anything else.

Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks :)

Edit: Forgot to mention that 3D is very important. Looking for the best 3D TV under 2 lakhs. :)

Ideally a 55 inch would be a better choice for the distance. But a 65inch would be an overkill.
Ofcourse if it is a 65 inch then samsung 8500 would be very good.
But if 50 inch is OK then nothing to beat the panasonic st60.

Ah. Missed out on the panasonic s60. Since bedrooms usually have less light conditions, an s60 would also be a good choice.

if you know about the plasma cons and are open to control it...
nothing can beat plasma pq...forget leds..
now sammy or panny..thats personal...
another personal thing..very personal..is size...to me from 10 feet even 65 is not immersive..
you can re think a good 3d projector like epson 8100 around 1.4 lakh..as an option..
but pjs are also not maint free...btw..

forget about 65 inches since your viewing distance is only 9 to 10 feet.....go for
50 inches and my recommendation would be the panasonic 50st60.....50s60 is a good tv but i feel that the colours and black levels could be better....

Your choice of samsung f8500 is great. if you watch more of HD,5 feet itself will do good.If you watch sd only probs come. But that also is not too bad.If you have budget enjoy the 64 inch tv.It will give you theatric experience.Dont get worried by bad pq of sd get a hd connection and enjoy.

64" is not too big. Go for it. As far as 3d is concerned, it's not worth it. Don't compromise on 2d quality just coz the tv is better at 3d. Get the best 2d panel you can find.

Also, a projector is not a great option for a room this small and certainly not a tv replacement either way. Majority of the channels we have are still SD and that would just look like crap blown up on a 100+ inch screen. Especially at that distance. I use a 120" screen and watch from 24 feet away and even at that distance, SD looks like crap. HD channels are minimum requirement for a PJ and Even those don't look amazing as they are way too heavily compressed. Blurays alone do justice to the projector. In short, ignore the PJ advice no matter how good the idea of a 100+ inch screen sounds.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
