Hi,
I stay in Chennai and planning to buy a AC for my living room. It is around 180 sq.ft. Need inputs from experts here on the options for Inverter Split Ac brands, models and leads on dealers who are aggressive on pricing.

Thanks
Vamsi

You can go for Hitachi, Daikin, Carrier, Blue Star, Sharp. For 1.5T Inverter, you're looking at 45-50K depending on brand. Some of them provide copper pipe with the package and some don't. So check that beforehand. Installation will be 1.5K-2K extra.

Thanks all for your responses. I don't want to spend beyond 50K.

Has anyone here used Sharp? How has been your experience with Sharp AC usage and service in Chennai?

My friend bought Sharp 1.5T Split last year and he's happy with it. No issues yet so can't say about servicing. Sharp uses Japanese compressor so they're quite durable. They're quiet too.

We have a sharp 1 tonne ac .Performance wise its excellent but service part I'm not sure.we didn't have any issues. But it seems now more retail stores are selling sharp ac and fridges.so service backup would be their.we were assured so by the sharp brand shop but the store wounded up soon

Dear All,
Thanks for all your inputs. Ratna Fan House is having a Year End sale sort of. All the companies are giving benefits like Free Delivery and Installation and Copper Cable upto 3 m part of the deal.

I got the below offers:
1. LG 1.5T Inverter ( Q186C8R2) - 45990 (including Stabilizer, Installation, Copper cable 3 m)
2. Panasonic TS18PKY - 46490 and YS18PKY 43490 (including Stabilizer, Installation, Copper cable 3 m)
3. Carrier Kurve 1.5 T Inverter - 42990. They also have a latest Hot cold model for 46K (including Stabilizer, Installation, Copper cable 3 m)
4. Daikin FTKV50NRV16 44490 (Only Installation and Delivery). This runs on R32 a more environment friendly gas vs R 410A and as per the company this doesn't need any stablizier (operates for 160-264V guaranteed)

I didn't bother to waste my time with Hitachi/O General etc as they seem to be priced illogically. Now need to make choice.

Performance wise I find LG to be the best ( 3.67 COP, 689 CFM air circulation and it has Plasma Ion filter). Need to make the decision before 1 Jan. If anyone is interested, can visit Ratna Fan House.

Two of my relatives have leaking LG AC so I wouldn't recommend. One of my friends had his LG repaired within the warranty period. So I wouldn't recommend LG.

As for Carrier, go for the latest model and check how they're providing after-sales service in your area before buying. It's very good in our area.

Panasonic is also good but I'm unsure about their support, there are loads of complaint here regarding their displays.

Daikin is my first recommendation. It's super quiet, it's eco-friendly, pretty simple in functions. Also check for their after-sales service.

Last year I did search online for an AC for my in-laws and found that Daikin has the best reviews and even my friends suggested Daikin. Finally bought it for 24k(FTE35, 1T with voltage stabilizer, Mar 2012),Very quite, basic features, no issues till date.

For buying Airconditioners in Chennai Rathna Fan house is the best place. All A/c's can be demoed and pricewise no dealer can beat them. Over several years I've bought all A/c from them. Coming back to the brands, I have bought couple of brands for me and my friends. The best I consider is Daiken.
The cheaper brands like Panasonic is also good but Panasonic free service is a joke. They just come and clean the filter and that is their free service. I've had bad experience with LG. Seems like they use very cheap chinese parts. Usually the capacitor blows off in LG when there is a voltage fluctuation even with a stablizer and also check out if they use copper wiring. Also consider Voltas, the TATA made Indian A/c. Have one of them for more than 5 years and is working flawless.

I have been using a pair of 1.5 Ton Sharp Inverter Acs over a year. Very satisfied with their performance and in being a true VFM product.

Hi Rishi,

I am looking to buy an air conditioner for my home. I am confused whether to go for 1.5 T or 1 Ton.

Room size is 12*10 with height 10 ft. Two windows which will have direct sunlight, west window 4*4 North window 4*4 . House is a lone building with direct sunlight on west and north sides. Max temperature will be 45-48 in summer.

I am considering LG BS-Q186C8R2 and Sharp AH-XP18MV. Please help me with your suggestions in choosing right tonnage and right model.

Thanks& Regards

KSNR9

I vote for Sharp AH-XP18MV. LG is good too specially their inverter models but their after-sales is not satisfactory, at least in my area they're not. So check which of those two has better after-sales in your area.

Hi Anubisx

I am buying AC for my house at my home town, after sales of LG and sharp are pretty much similar.

After searching for a week i found a dealer in hyderabad who quoted less than other dealers. He said LG BS-Q186C8R2 is 2013 model and LG has come up with their new model BS-Q186C4A1.
He quoted 46K for BS-Q186C4A1 and after bargain 47K for AC + stabilizer. I am getting 2013 model at 44K (with out stabilizer). Now im little bit confused about which model to go for as I have not read any reviews about 2014 model(BS-Q186C4A1).

Please help me with your suggestion.
Thanks

Both are quite similar except the 2013 model has Plasmaster Ionizer which is supposed to sterilise the air and keep the room deodorized while the 2014 model has this Energy Saving Mode. Now, you decide which one you want to go for.

from above post i think Sharp AH-XP18MV is best model in inverter series of all ac, am i right guys...
