Need help

Planning to setup home theater at my home in Chennai..Room size is 12x12... Max budget is 30-35k... looking for a system with musical clarity....I am not a a audiophile but after hearing Boss songs on the lowest priced Bose product (Companion 2-100$ which i own) was amazed at the clarity....kind of worried that any product that i am going to test/demo has to stand up against BOSE and has to fall within my budget .... longed to have floor standing speakers(tallboy) if possible....Samsung/Sony provide a full setup with floor standing speakers complete with bluray..i am guessing people here are going to vote against it .... Am in US and will be returning back in a week..so any suggestion to grab from here also is fine....these are few of my options

1) Bose Acoustimass 5 (360$) from US+Any HDMI Amplifier that i can grab in chennai

2)Samsung HT-E4550K/HT-ES455K- Has tallboy(All from chennai)

3)Polk Audio RM705 5.1 Home Theater System +Any HDMI Amplifier that i can grab in chennai

I am new to this so please bear with me if i options seem novice

at 30k budget u r lucky not to have many options to be confused with..........joking no offence.
one model there is only and that is denon 1312xp home theter set up.
ask any member he will say the same at 30k budget its the best..
similar onkyo 3400 or yamaha 296 are some plus minus pricing
3 are equally good....demo and buy.

at 12 ft by 12 ft u wont need tallbay/tower/floor stander..anyway if you have a fancy for them
buy sonodyne tall boy and a denon 1612/1912 avr..that will be little more than ur budget.ask experst or showroom 1612 or 1912 to drive a tallboy capacity specification.
buy sub,centre,rear later

pls stay away from samsung/sony ht sets/////////complete waste of money..they are toy products in front of denon/yamaha/onkyo rpoducts........



just checked amazon us denon 1912 at 529 usd...nice deal....buy it.about speakers they are also cheap in us but consider luggage issue and customs issue.

buy in us..much cheaper...

oh u are in us now...buy there.. much cheaper

polk is very good and goes super with denon...but its better to have polk other sereis and mix and match according to ear and budget.. than the complete ht set up package...performance is better

hi prosenjit..thanks for the reply... any idea on BOSE Acoustimass 5 ? The currnet version 10 is 990$...version 5 comes within my budget ... the version 5 doesnt have a center speaker..it is built into the subwoofer...is that good?...the display modesl are all Version 10

bose is also overhyped.....you will get a killer system of polk and denon at the same price...stay from bose as well.

The question should be "will Bose stand up against any of the systems falling in your budget?"

Bose does have good models but very overpriced. For the same price, you will get better product of other companies.

Yamaha YHT series, Onkyo 3400/3500, Denon 1312Xp should be in your range.

Please don't call the tallboy speakers of Sony/Samsung as floor standers. I agree that they do stand on floors and are tall but that is where the similarity between good floorstanders and tallboys end.

thanks!... so receiver and sub woofer are heavy so will have to buy in chennai...like you guys suggested Onkyo/Denon/Yamaha.... speakers i can grab from here..any suggestions on that? Can i buy 4 bookshelf speakers for the front 2 and rear 2 and once center channel speakers? Are the 4 speakrs (fraon and rear) of same build?

not only same biuld same series.......I mean same series front and same series centre and same series front.
denon 1612 and polk Rti series....in us u may get it within 50k

and yes the fancy tallboy from sony sammy lg are just toy products in fromnt of a real fs.

For budget of 35k, I would suggest to go for HTiB (home theatre in box) Like Denon 1312xp of Onkyo 3500. It includes basic AVR, 5 speakers and the subwoofer. Harman Kardon AVR-JBL entry level HTib should also fit in your budget. If you try to buy everything as separate, it will be way above 35k, with basic AVR itself costing about 22k and sub costing 15k which already overshoots your budget with satellite and installation fee remaining
