Hi

I want to buy a nice set of speakers probably 5.1 to be used mainly to movies .

I have Sony 46Hx750 which i am using as a monitor screen . All my movies will be watched via PC HDMI.

I have no knowledge in the regard of speakers/home theatre (not even sure what to call it :) . I have visited Bose and Harmon Kardon site for the range of speakers in my budget. But since i visited this site it seems u guys can definately tell me some better options. My room size is approx 17 * 17.

Looking forward to the advice.

P.S Not sure what is AVR and do i need it or not .Also if possible i need speakers with low power requirement as i might need them to run on inverter often.

Also thanks to this site for helping me choose the hx750

My dad used to have Boss speakers in his times, I had enough great experience with them. Since you have a decent budget then I'd suggest either for Bose or Sharp they are pretty worth investing.
And one more suggestion instead of reviewing them online, it would be better if you could visit any retail outlet to have a close look at them.

You have a decent budget for component based HT. AVR processes your audio/video signals from your input (like BD/DVD/Tatasky) and sends to your output devices (for sound - to your speakers, for video - to your TV or Projector). It also processes all the latest tech like HD audio/Dolby etc which enhances the overall sound experience.

Try to auditon for any AVR + speaker combinations like Denon/Yamaha + Polk/Wharfedale. Then you will get some idea and also you will know what kind of sound you like.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
