Hi Experts,

Request your advice, I am planning to purchase 32'' Sony LCD TV.

I am trying to decide between 32BX320 / 32CX320 / 32CX420.

Need your advice on pros n cons to make the decision.

Thanks
Nick

I wouldn' go with the BX320 since it may not come with a SPVA panel.

The 32CX420 should be good. But if i where you i would probably buy a Sony CX520 in the grey market.
Or a samsung 32D550 in the showroom. The samsung plays all formats and is equally good,as long as you get a SPVA panel.

Where as the Sony doesn't support subtitles and it also doesn't play all audio formats (and doesn't play all video formats CX520 and above series)

Thanks adder...

My budget is 35K and I am not interested to buy from gray market for obvious reasons...

However can you please shed some more light on SPVA Panel..pardon my ignorance

SPVA tech based lcd has higher contrast then other VA based tech such as AMVA3 and SMVA,all three types of panels are used in samsung.
While Sony may use SMVA or AMVA in its low end series such as BX320.
While the CX,EX and NX series have SPVA panels.

As far as samsung panel lottery refer this thread http://www.hifivision.com/televisio...eed-samsung-spva-sq01-panel-2.html#post248757

You are right. If these 2 problems were not there it would have been a very nice Tv  Will they do some upgradation and solve this problem?

venkat..u c i earlier(feb-march 2011) had a samsung 40c530 Lcd tv(a step lower model than the d550 in question) for about a month & half...until i returned the tv,but within that timeframe,i got to playback all sort of sd/hd/fhd videos along with allmost everytype of external subtitles & if my memory doesnot betray me,all of those videos alongwith the all type of subtitles were displayed perfectly .Now after another 2-3 month,i got again another samsung, this time a 51" plasma d550 & i am really pleased to tell you that the samsung plays all sort of videos i have thrown at it(through it's usb ports) along with subtitles & .dts audio with equal aplomb & morever the 2011 d series r better at displaying subtitles(have even more options). To state hard facts, the samsung tv integrates a VERY GOOD mediaplayer & u can skip purchasing a dedicated media player alltogether,if u r short on ur budget!...it even surpasses my PCH in media compatibility & subttile playback.
Now,afaik samsung is doing a top notch job in this usb playback dept.for all their tvs across the range from lcd/lcd-led's to their big plasmas since 2009 launches & also going by my own personal experiences from my two samsung tv,i'm more than sure that the 32d550 would surely playback all media/videos alongwith subtitle with perfection!

comparing with samsung which is even priced lesser for comparitive models & offers more vfm,..sony appears more stingy & less user friendly in providing features that would have made their tv owners more happy....i think Sony doesnot care & r too overconfident to sell alone by brand value of the monicker on their tv,which most common mango ppl makes their priority while purchasing their tv! i ain't saying sony tvs r bad, but if they dont pay due attention to customer needs, they would surely generate lot of bad sales & genuinely upsetting their valuable(?)customers!

Thanks for the very useful information :).Before buying tv i didn't know that sony can't play subs and samsung can  .Even audio is not a problem as i am able to convert DTS TO AC3 but can't find a solution for subs

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
