Need suggestions for a 42" TV (approx Rs. 40000)

I don't have the time right now to investigate and check out the various options for a 42" plasma and I need to get a TV ASAP to gift someone. Any suggestions on what is the best option out there. I suppose the primary candidates would be the following:
Panasonic 42X30 (available for Rs. 32,000)
Panasonic 42U30 (available for Rs. 40,000)
Samsung PS43D450 (price ??)
Samsung PS43D490 (price ??)
Any other options?
Would be nice to know the pros and cons of these models.
Might be open to spending up to Rs. 50,000 for a good 50" TV. What is the best price for the Samsung PS51D490A1 and is it any good?

P42U30 is the only full HD model in your list, go for it, it is the best plasma that is available now.

Is your recommendation based solely on the P42U30 being 'Full HD"? Personally I don't think that in itself makes much of a difference on a 42" TV. I was hoping someone could share more light on a comparison between the Samsung PS43D450 and the Panasonic P42U30. Also, any ideas what is a good price for the Samsung TVs.

Between Samsung and Panasonic, you are paying for colour reproduction vs black levels. There isn't a TV which has charaters of both. Ahem Kuro cough cough. D490 was going for 39k with 1 glass and can play most video formats through USB.
D490 is not perfect 720p (as wih all 42" 720p TVs), so U30 kinda looks a wee bit better in resolution. Blacks are comparable.
