hi guys,

I am building a new house and have to planned a dedicated home theatre..size of the room is 11 * 18 feet..i have absolutely ZERO idea in electronics and have no clue of how to go about...initially thought of 5.1 bose 520 series speakers with epson tw-5200 and high gain mat white fixed projector ( 8*4.5)(app cost 3.10 lakhs) but then nobody in this forum is for BOSE..so went to some local dealer so they suggested YAMAHA RX-V573 in amplifier and CABASSE ALCYONE -2 speakers with epson 5200 and gave a final quation of rs.2.50 lakhs including installation and all ups,stabilizars..etc..now how to go about ...some people saying take denon amplifiers and one dealer suggested monitor audio speakers...i mainly watch 90 % movies....my budget is around 2.5 to 2.75 max including all...also do i have to take sub woofer also ? ..as i told i have zero knowlegde in electronics...thanks all.

hi guys,

..also do i have to take sub woofer also ?

IMHO, Yes! It's a must to have for a 90% movie profile.

Apart from this, I'm also new to this forum and "audio finesse" world. The one most important query I'll be posing you is that have you auditioned all those whatever you've in your mind; or whatever has been listed out by the dealers?

Just my two cents!

Cheers!

Hi Fareed,

I hope you are on your way to building a great home theater. I would like you to know that a projector is an essential part of the system. I have on offer is a 3chip DLP projector right in Hyderabad which you can demo. Although it has a asking price of USD11000, once you have seen the projector it will blow your mind away. PLease read on 3chip dlp projectors online and also look at what great build the runco projectors are and let me know if you are interested.

you did a wise thing staying away from BOSE :) on with a budget like that. For audio you need to look at a good AVR and matching 5.1 speakers. Please visit as many shops and demo as many systems as you can.

Remember every speaker will sound different across various AVRs. After listening to a few systems you will be able to ascertain what kind of sound you like.

In AVRs the names you can look at are : Marantz, Denon, Yamaha and Onkyo.
All the best!!!

I m using yamaha rx-v673 av receiver with jamo s606 speakers and a diy subwoofer. It cost me around 110000. And it just perfect according to my listening point. Without audition you won't be able to know what suits your ears. So audition as much setup as you can and then decide
