Hi, Folks
I have loved vinyl since I was a kid. First "big" purchase in my early teens was a cheap "all-in-one" stereo from Eaton's. First vinyl: Anne Murray and Gordon Lightfoot.
I am currently using a Micro-Seiki MB 14 turntable with an Ortofon SuperOM 10 cartridge into a Rega Fono Mini into a NAD C372 integrated amp. The speakers are Paradigm towers. (I also have a Hitachi PS 48 turntable and a Kenwood KD 2055 - both with Shure M97X cartridges. I switch the turntables from time to time for the fun of it).
I collect vinyl and take part in a local vinyl and collectibles show twice a year.
I have a number of questions but will start with just one: is the Rega Fono Mini a "true" pre-amplifier? Friends - who are more knowledgable than I - say no, it's merely a "line booster/enhancer". If the answer is "no", would I improve the overall sound of my system by going to a "true" pre-amp?
Thanks in advance for your help. I have a few more questions and I'm eager to hear what y'all have to say.
Cheers!
