NEW LAUNCH :: LG Hecto Laser TV

I don't understand this rapid introduction of massive sizes and new display technologies..Assuming that it would just be a prototype, isn't this a case of too much too soon by LG just months after launching their 84" Ultra HD TV?

No these are not prototypes. Mitsubishi has already launched it couple of years back. See this

There is a whole lot of RnD going on in the AV sector and one gets to see most of it at CES.
Feedback at CES is used to further improve the technology, before it's actually made available to the public.
Not everything displayed at CES goes mainstream.

These are not the prototypes as I see in the article LG has introduced Smart TV Function with a massive 100 inch TV like display in this Hecto Laser TV. I think LG has designed it as a close alternate of TVs.

One more noticeable thing is life span of its lamp that is 5 times (25,000 hours) greater than conventional lamp-based projectors. So it clears here that it can be used in place of TVs. However, prices are still to be announced, so in last price will be the ultimate decision factor to decide its usefulness over TVs.
