Monitor audio has launched new "silver" (thats the name) series speakers. People planning to buy new RX* should hold their purchase for few months as reviews suggest the new speakers are better than older series albeit more expensive.

One of the FMs asked a dealer and found the price would be around 120K to 130K. Don't know about the launch date though.

Heard the Monitor Audio RX8 in Delhi recently, was impressed except they seemed a little bass heavy.

Any idea when the new Silver line is supposed to be available in India?

My impression of RX8 mirrors yours. Thats why I went for RX6 which has the right amount of bass and very appropriate for relatively smaller indian homes. The new silvers are priced about 30% above the RX so will need to justify it with a much better performance than the RX series. Am anxiously waiting to audition them.

One of the FMs was quoted 96K final price for RX6. I have one for sale at 70K as I have set my eyes on Gold GX100 bookshelves :).

yes the rx8 bass is more than required and slightly flabby. seems like they designed the rx6 perfectly and just added another low into the rx8

Unfortunately i could not listen to the RX6, that would have been a better bet.
Hopefully, soon will be able to listen to the new Silver 6 in India.

I listened to Quad 23L and Wharfedale Jade 7 as well in the same setup but the MA was better to my ears.

Hi, if you have interest for GX100, then I strongly recommend you to also audition the KEF R300 and the Revel S106 speakers. These 2 speakers sounded much better than the GX series to me, and these 2 speakers also have rave reviews and great customer feedbacks. But the build quality of the Monitor audio is top notch.

Yes, I do plan to audition other speakers before making the final decision. I have already auditioned the GX100 & PL100 (without my amp) and really liked them. What tips the scale in their favour is that my current setup is working very well RX6 so I assume it will also sound well with the GX. I am not sure if Revel is available in Hyderabad though.

I am not sure if Revel is available in Hyderabad though.

There is a JBL dealer in filmnagar near apollo hospital. A couple of years ago he had some basic revels. Not sure now, but he had a failry decent listening room and he suggested that I can bring my amp. if I wanted a serious audition.
Cheers,
Sid

Did not know Revel was a Harman product. Thanks Sid, will try the JBL dealer. I did go to him when I was looking for an amp and wanted to try the HK-990 but he said he cannot offer audition and I would have to buy it blind :(.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
