Hi all,

My new setup is almost there, except for the speakers.

My setup is - Technics 1200 MK2 + Ortofon proS cart +Ortofon OM20 stylus + Rega Brio R integrated

I am back in Bangalore soon and will start looking for a pair of FS speakers. I have an allotted budget of 30 to 40K for them. I have not auditioned any speakers yet, though I have heard the Tannoy Mercury V4s and think they sound good and they fall right at the bottom end of my budget. I listen to classic rock, easy, retro and western classical mainly, so tight bass and transparent mids sought.

Any speaker suggestions please? Please could you send me some contacts and addresses as I have been out of India for 6 years now and have no idea of the new stores.

Also, any thoughts on my setup?

Thanks

Technics MK should be a nice vintage TT to own and first congrats for that. Your Budget could be fit for a Good BS probably you could choose some thing Like Epos, Tannoy,MS messo,Whrafs,Jamo and if you are sure to own FS then again you got option for Sonodyne,Jamo, wharafs and Ms which would be in entry level and could give a decent SQ for the Money Spent.

So what is the Genre of Music you listen to? this could help to narrow down in the speaker selection

I have mentioned that. I listen to classic rock, retro pop and western classical> I don't really mind the treble, but a good, tight bass and nice and clear mids are vital.
Also, I prefer the FSs, my current room is about 200 sq ft, but, I will be moving to a larger apartment soon, hopefully.
Thanks for the help
