New subwoofer to pair with B&W ASW10CM (ASW610XP)

Tl;dr: Want to purchase a new subwoofer to integrate with B&W PM1s + B&W ASW10CM. System powered by NAD M66 + M23. Would prefer something that integrates well prior to DSP. Any suggestions?

I’m a relative newcomer to the forum, but I’ve received some good advice from you guys and I really appreciate it.

After keeping it in storage for some years, I re-installed my B&W PM1 speakers and ASW10CM subwoofer. The subwoofer had an issue with its power supply which wasn’t a problem to fix, but the dealer and distributor were careless in shipping and caused damage to its enclosure. It was quite nightmarish, but the members here encouraged me to try a simple fix and it worked! (I’m very grateful for it).

My old Marantz SR6008 AVR was not in working condition when I unpacked it from storage, so I decided to upgrade my amplification and threw the old one away. After much deliberation, I purchased the NAD M66 and the NAD M23 and a pre + power combo.

Now, I’m left with the last part of this upgrade - purchasing a 2nd subwoofer.

I tried a PSB Subseries 250, which I got on loan from a dealer, but I didn’t like it. The bass was very boomy and it was muddying up the sound of the rest of the system. I feel that it wasn’t controlled enough to reveal any differences between instruments and that the quality was a serious step down from the ASW10CM.

I purchased the M66 because of its Dirac Live Bass Control feature, and I’m aware that bass frequencies are difficult to tame without DSP, but shouldn’t the system sound good at least prior to the DSP filters?

I didn’t want to be stuck with a bad subwoofer so I returned the PSB Subseries 250, and now I’m back to looking at subwoofer options. Any suggestions?

My budget is Rs 1L - 1.5L

My room is rectangular, with approximate dimensions equalling 16ft x 10ft x 12ft. There’s a short passage of 5ft x 3ft x 7.5ft leading into the room.

The speakers and subwoofers are placed along the long wall of the room and I’ve got some acoustic panels on the opposite wall.

You can try auditioning these if possible. My preference are the MJ and SF as I have heard them on multiple occassions and always found both of them excellent for music. Good luck with your hunt and selection

Get the B&W DB4S sub, it has inbuilt dsp & through the app you can tune it for your B&W speakers.

Too expensive… I just spent a lot of money on the amps and I don’t want to spend too much because this current system will become a secondary system when I buy new speakers (I’ll get use the NADs for the primary system and also buy a different amp).

Yes and turned out the hype is more than the performance. Lacks headroom in medium rooms plus having the passive radiator handicaps the sub making it sound bloated and slow when compared with sealed MJ, SF and even the rel 98. On the other hand it does go lower and gives the feeling of having more bass at the cost of agility and accuracy. No harm in trying if a demo is available.
