Kalpesh.....welcome to HiFi Vision.

There is an audio video store in Rajkot. Please search on the forum and you will find the details. Alternatively, there are a few audio video stores in Ahmedabad. These are also listed in a thread here on the forum

Rs 80K is a good budget for a home theater system. Do listen with your favorite movies and music before making a decision. A few brands that you can check out are Wharfedale, Tannoy, Polk, Energy, PSB etc.

Best,

Welcome to the forum !!!
By the way, you have a good budget too and so you need to make sure you get the best for the money you spend.

There are many posts which can advice you on the way to go. Even before you go get through those posts, you can have a look at my post here.
http://www.hifivision.com/home-theater/46707-budget-reciever.html#post529036
The above post will just give you a very high level idea of how to go about building your home theater. I will always suggest that one shouldn't be in a hurry to get the HT. Step by step is the best way to go.

Having said that and for your rough idea, you can divide the budget like this:
1. Receiver (around 30 to 35k)
2. Speakers (3 speakers Front-L/Front-R/Center + 1 subwoofer) (around 50k)

The above is just to give you a very rough idea and need not be exactly the same.

The next most important thing is audition. You need to visit a showroom who sells multi-brand receivers/spesakers.
For example, you can choose from these receivers and you need not limit yourself to this list.

Receivers:
---------
Yamaha RX-V473 or RX-475
Marantz NR1503 or NR1504
Denon X1000 or AVR1913

Speakers:
---------
Wharfedale Diamond 121 BS (2 speakers - Front-L/Front-R)
Boston Acoustics 26

I generally prefer bookshelf speakers over satellite speakers due to performance.

Take some time to go through other posts and post any new queries.

thank you guys to guide me but is that things are available in rajkot? i have no idea from which store i go for audition

Hi friends,

can u tell me that what is THX certification and what its necessary in home theater system
THX certification is a stamp of approval that a product gets for meeting a certain set of standards. The requirements needed to meet the standards are told only to manufacturers that apply for THX certification. So the general public is unaware of these standards, meaning we consumers have no way of knowing what we're paying extra for.

Over the years, some of the specifications have leaked out. For example: to get the highest certification (THX Ultra2), amplifiers have to be stable with 2 ohm loads. THX certified speakers all have a wide horizontal dispersion (to cover everyone on the sofa) and a narrow vertical dispersion (to minimize floor and ceiling reflections).

Because the standards are a secret, there are products out there that probably meet or exceed THX specs, but the manufacturers even don't know it. In any case, not worth worrying about THX at the price level you're considering.

Kalpesh,

Plan a visit to mumbai, as you will get demo's of a variety of HT systems that come under your budget. That way, you will get an idea of what you like & then decide what you want to purchase. That is most important as you should be happy with your purchase for an appreciable amount of time before looking for an upgrade in the near future & not end up buying something you will regret. You could plan a trip to coincide with 2 AV shows that will take place next month, so plan accordingly to get maximum exposure of whats available in the market.

:)

Hi guys,
one another question plz tell me about SOUND BARS i just hear a Philips sound bar at my friend's house. I really feel Good after hearing that now i am confused about my home theater now tell me guys which is best a home theater systems or sound bar

Thanking you

Hi Kalpesh

First of all you can say that it all depends on how much of a convenience you want at the cost of sound fidelity.

Well there are cheap soundbars you can try out the sonodyne/samsung ones or the pricer yamaha and bose ones. Of course there is a certain degree of convenience about the whole setup.

Well we also have a wireless solution in the Violet system it is good for what it does.

As far as my limited exposure goes nothing can beat a separate AV receivers + speakers but you need to spend some good money. I would rather suggest that you get yourself a mid level AV receiver and some great speakers.

Kalpesh

You may find out that you actually need to spend more money for a good system. Before deciding, do what denom suggestes.Spend some time seeing and listening to what's on offer, then decide. You will get a better understanding of this filed and be able to get a feel for what you like (or dislike).

My personal recommendation would be to stay away from soundbars if you are looking for quality. I had a demo of Bose soundbar in their showroom - I wouldn't buy it even if they were selling for 10K, the quality was that poor. Just to add, I also had a demo of their 5.1 HTiB system as well - for all the hype the name has, it was disappointing for me as it was sounding just as any other HTiB (LG, Sony etc.).
