'I prefer Neil Young
the acoustic balladeer as opposed to
Neil Young the electric rock n roller. This
is not dissimilar to my opinion of Bob
Dylan either, and yes,I view Young as an
equal in this regard.Add on Joni Mitchell,
Leonard Cohen,and Joan Baez,and you
may find yourself surrounded by five of
the most influential poet/songwriters in
our lifetime.'
Adrian Spijker's Review of
Neil Young Live At Massey Hall.
Yeah Adrian!I agree.Five of the most
influential singer/songwriters.But you forgot
someone who's better than all of them....Phil Ochs.

How can one miss one of the greatest Canadian singers : Gordon Lightfoot?

Have any of you heard his (original) version of "if you could read my mind"?

I have all his albums till the 1983 album Salute on vinyl.

I first heard Lightfoot at a friends place back in 1974,been a fan ever since. The song Sundown was a big hit back then.

Sadly his new albums are not that good.

Regards
Rajiv

yup, his newer stuff is a let down...
awesome bro! You have ALL the vinyls! My salute to you coz its not easy to get some of his stuff...

@Rajiv--'Lightfoot is one of my favourites, and though Ajay thinks otherwise I feel that his version of "Changes" is the best.'

Fortunately both are available on You Tube and we can all judge for ourselves!:)
Personally I feel Gord is rushing through the song and all the sincerity, depth and experience of life fully lived is gone.
But everytime I hear Phil sing 'Changes' I feel this is his song and no other singer would ever be able to do it right.
