Don't know if correct section.

Have my ps3 connected to my crappy hp monitor (1859m). Monitor isn't full HD, but connected it to the ps3 through a dvi-hdmi cable. Was working fine until now, but I'm just getting a blank screen now. There is video output from the ps3, but the screen is just backlit blank. Ps3 is on (can hear sound through 2.1 speakers.)

Have tried changing cables too. I've tried resetting the video settings and I also get the "do you want to display through hdmi" message, but as soon as i press no, it goes blank. Usually as soon as I pressed no, the system would start and I would be manually be able to choose 720p from the video settings.

Also, the monitor setting shows that its at 50hz on dvi, whereas it should be 60. I've tried to increase that but am not able to. Its on 60 hz on vga though.

Someone helppp

I dont have the ps3 connected right now but as far as I remember, if I chose no for hdmi, the hdmi signal stops completely and screen goes blank. It reverts back to composite cables. So not sure why you are expecting the ps3 to continue sending the signal via hdmi after you choose No for hdmi. I maybe wrong here though. I'll check again in the AM.

just wanted to clear something.. you are using an HDMI cable with a DVI converter..?? and when you get the message "do you want to display through hdmi" You say NO... may be you should say Yes there.. Am just throwing a thought there.. hope this works :p

It would output through hdmi, but at 720p. I know it sounds strange, but selecting no did the trick!

go to display settting. set as per instructions.
No display! Have tried re installing drivers and factory reset of the monitor.

If I selected yes, it would show the message: that input settings are out of range. By selecting no, the startup screen would come and I was able to select 720p from display settings.

Now its all blank when I select no :(
