how important are all these : tocos volume control, 24 bit etc?

i only plan to use a dac for hooking my laptop to my topping tp20 which are hooked to b&w lm1 speakers.

appreciate any insight.

it will depend on the price difference, uDAC is excellent for us who are looking for entry level VFM DAC, my doubt is how important is volume control when its hooked to a receiver and the receiver will take over from there, more often than not we use 16bit vinyl/CD rips, correct me if I am wrong

Ignoring all the market speak, uDAC-1 has channel imbalance at lower volumes. They improved the volume pot in uDAC-2, but you can still hear some channel imbalance at much lower volumes. Reducing the volume in Windows control panel and setting the volume higher on uDAC-2 solves it. Other than that, the sound signature is different between uDAC-1 and 2. uDAC-1 has bumped up bass and forward mids, while uDAC-2 is relatively more even across the spectrum.

But, it does not measure well - NwAvGuy: NuForce uDAC-2 Drama and uDAC-1, I assume will only do worse in objective tests. But at the budget prices, I assume you are not looking for the perfect piece of hardware

You can still get uDAC-1 from PristineNote - NuForce Icon uDAC for Rs.2750 only !
