Onkyo 3300 or 5300

Hi,

I am a newbie and in btw selecting a decent HTS for my new upcoming HT dedicated room( 12 X 15).

Intially I thought of buying mix and match options but pressed for time wanna go for HTiB.

do not want to blow big on pocket, rather want to invest wise.

Looked at Onkyo HTS 3300 and 5300

both receivers wise specs looks nearly same, barring few like

HTS 3300 has
5.1
passive sub:sad:
no ipod dock

where as HTS 5300 has 7.1 with active sub and high output with ipod dock.

cost wise they look too much diff.

HTS 3300 @ 25-26K
HTS 5300 @ 52K :annoyed:



Now experts pls help me make a good investment.. also noted the amazon prices looks great HTS 5300 working at some 20k INR( this made me feel bad , abt the deal we are getting here in India)


While HTS 3300 looks ok price wise in India...

Appreciate your thoughts and welcoem any other suggestions for budget not more than 20-50k

well 3300 is a basic system with some decent features and it is pretty much reasonable for that price for the features where as 5300 s amp is and the sub is much powerful + it has bi-amping capability meaning u can listen to two differnt sources in two different rooms, but the only thing is the price if u have no prob shelling 20k more then my advise would be 5300, even i have purchased it last week after upgrading from my onkyo s-5100 7.1. and i m also from hyderabad purchased 5300 for 50k.

Both r good for their price. Buy as per ur budget. Also lookup Yamaha 292/392.
