Onkyo 3400 or Pioneer 071 or Yamaha 298

Sorry for starting new thread as this is a common question but want fresh suggestions thats y posting it.

Want to purchase HTIB within 30k range. Having no knowledge in this subject. Got some knowledge after going through some posts.Thanks to hifivision. Now I am confused. Dnt know with which brand shall i go?

My basic requirement is 50% movie and 50% music with good bass.Want good after sales service also. Here in Hyderabad getting Onkyo 3400 @ 31k. Offer going on Pioneer 071 i.e getting for 21k. Please help me. Its a 1 time purchase so dont want to take any risk.

Hear the Denon 1312xp its in the similar price range

As your preference of 50% music - Onkyo/ Pioneer - not in the league. You can demo Yamaha and Denon (as sl4y3r mentioned).

Just got to know that Denon 1312xp has been discontinued by company. Getting 1 display piece for 25k in one of the branded outlet with company warranty. Is it worth to take display piece at discounted price??

I'm quoting what I told a forum member when he asked me the same question for the same Denon model, he too was asking if its ok to buy the last piece which was a Display piece.

" Nothing wrong in buying used speakers, but big stores like Croma, RD, etc do not use, but ABuse speakers, playing pathetic quality audio from pathetic sources at unreasonable volumes."

So the answer is NO. If it is a professional audio store then its OK, but if its a Croma, Vijay Sales, Reliance Digital - NO.

Try other stores, Also ask about the new model Denon, else you may have to settle with the 298.

If you have a Kohinoor Electronics in your area, check if they have the 1312xp.

Yamaha 298 should be a good choice. I never demoed that but once I demoed yamaha 196 and it was quite good.

BTW onkyo 3400 @ 31K is extremely overpriced. If u have a thought to going for Onkyo, go for Onkyo 3500 which has USB feature as an additional and it will come same price as 3400.

hi guys....finally settled with yamaha 299 + sony blue ray 3D player + 32" LG 3D LED for 65K as a whole package. Dont know whether or not deal was good or not:sad:t....anyhow thanks to all of u for your valuable inputs and suggestions.:clapping:

Mr Buyer don't even dream of buying used piece from Reliance Digital. As sl4y3r has pointed out they abuse and as per my experience kill half the functionality.

I have a sad story about getting a demo piece as stand-by until a new one comes (Onkyo HTS 4505) from Reliance Digital, Cunningham Road, Bangalore. Half the functions are not working in it and remote can only be used for changing inputs and volume.

So better check every single function and if possible get with you an experienced hand for that product to check whether everything's working fine and only then make a purchase.

Also get a good discount by bargaining hard else don't buy.

As far as I am concerned it is 6th month and still waiting for replacement after many escalations

Hi to every1....finally purchased & installed yamaha 299 + Samsung 3D Blue Ray Player + 32" LG LED for 63K after good bargain from Hyper City. Happy with the purchase.

Saw movies like Godzilla, Final Destaination5 etc...amazing sound.

Now, there are two concerns for of me:-

1st of all not getting proper wall mounting speakers stand (Tilted Type) and secondly sound output from TV (Though sound chord connected with receiver and video connected with set box) is coming from only 1 front speaker. If playing with player,usb etc sound ouput coming from all the speakers. Dont know Why?

Anybody who can help me in this 2 issues???

@Nithin Even I am Planning to purchase Onkyo 3400 or the yamaha 299 along with 32inch television set. Which model of TV did you purchase? and did you buy it from Hypercity Bangalore?
My budget is 60k for the entire thing Looking forward for some suggestions.
