Hi Friends ,
Planning to buy a home theatre under 40k . I have checked the Denon 1612xp ,Onkyo HT-R558 -Receiver + SKS-HT528 5.1 Speaker System and the Onkyo HT-S4505 in bangalore .The tv room is of size 12*12 and preference of 70% music and 30% movies. I am confused as to which of these packages are good or experts on forum suggest to buy a seperate AVR and speaker package.
Please guide me by providing me the details
Thanks

Hi,

For HT-R558 + SKS-HT528, where did you check in Bangalore? What is the quote you got?
I checked in Moder world and got the quote of 38k, which I feel bit high...

Thanks,
Karthik

HI Karthik,
I had checked with Onkyo showroom in Barton center MG Road and they also quoted a price of 38k.
I am planning to check the system tomorrow but confused if i want to buy that. Need options under 40k
Thanks

Hi Guys, I am in a similar situation and live in Bangalore.. Did you guys finally go for it ? and if yes then whats your opinion?
Cheers

I purchased onkyo 4505 for 32 k from gurgaon . The receiver and satellites are good but the sub was not that good. Had to exchange it for onkyo 208 sub for 10 k extra but now the sound is awesome. very deep bass.:clapping:

I purchased 4505 for 34k. My living area is only 10x12, so its not worth to spend 4k extra for additional bass which is not needed.

Thanks,
Karthik

I had a demo this saturday at the Onkyo showroom in Barton center .
I had asked Ashok to play back to back with the Onkyo HT-R558 -Receiver and different speaker system
1)4505 Default HTP-558 speaker system. The Speakers are good when compared to 3500 .
2)Then i got the demo with the SKS-HT 528. The speaker were better and the bass was too good.
3) Finally asked to connect the SKS-HT 648 and this was extremely good compared to the other two speaker as the sound was crisp and good bass .
The price for Onkyo HT-R558 -Receiver + SKS-HT528 5.1 Speaker System is 38k while that for Onkyo HT-R558 -Receiver +SKS-HT 648 is 45k.
So now the question is it worth . My budget is 40k and this would be like stretching it . Do we have any more options as i am planning to book this Ugadi if there are good offeres. Has anyone tried any other speaker system with the Onkyo HT-R558 Receiver.
Thanks

If your preference to music is 70% then you should check out Yamaha YHT298. But under 40K budget I would suggest you to go for separates way like 20K for AVR and 20-22K for speakers.

In 20K, you can get AVRs such as Yamaha 371, Denon 1312 or Pioneer (plz check out as I do not remember the name) Yamaha is more musical

For speakers you can always go for Jamo S426 which is 5.0 setup but fronts as FS so having good bass that you wont miss the sub.

Also you can look for JBL 5.1 speakers at HT Store.

Check out the link
JBL Speakers

This way you will have a solid system which will sound much better than any HTIB

take it point wise..

for ur room size, for ur present budget, for the best value for money, for a very decent home use : 4505 should be enough I guess..

when the other sets are priced more, they are priced for a reason ;-) .. of course there will be a quality difference..

I too had the same dilemma.. but after lot of research and suggestions, decided to stick to the 45.. and it's worth it..

Hi Guys,
Planning to buy the Onkyo HT-S4505 but it seems like it is out of stock in Mumbai.
Could you please check in your cities and let me know the availability along with pricing?

Cheers!
