Hi all,

Recently i purchased Onkyo HT-S4050B with active sub woofer.
Can someone please tell me can i use this setup connected to UPS power. I am using 850VA Microteck UPS with 150AH battery.
Is there any problem in connecting the receiver and sub woofer to UPS.
I wanted to make sure that main power failure should not cause any damage for the receiver and sub woofer.

many thanks,
Shesh

If the UPS is sinewave then you can connect the htib to it. I'm using 1KVA online ups to power my entire ht system.

Hello baijuxavior,

Many thanks for heads up. I am using Micortek 850VA sine wave UPS.
I was using htib for the same UPS, the complete setup was working fine for three days. i was playing music, suddenly smoke came out from the front air hole from the woofer and it failed.
The Onkyo gave replacement. The second subwoofer also stopped working but there was no smoke. I have given the same for Onkyo and they said the board is failed.
When i asked for the reason for the failure Onkyo service said the htib not suppose to be connected to UPS.

Can i use a 1KVA stabilizer for the UPS and use the htib?

Regards,
Shesh

If your place has no voltage fluctuations then a stabilizer is enough. No need to connect to the UPS. Normal UPS has square wave output which is not suitable for transformer based power supply of HTiB/Subwoofer.

i am using an sine wave UPS, it is Microtek and they said it is sine wave.

I purchased on 2nd Nov from Modern world, wanted to buy basic Model. Then bought with Active Sub Woofer based on suggestions from my friends.
I paid 39k.

This is my first home theater and music system for me. I have used only for three or four times and i have enjoyed the music. The USB is an good option so that you can stick any pen drive for music.
When i use my ipod some time it disconnect by saying " no storage". i have noticed this issue only with ipod. The USB drive works fine.

I haven't used much due to sub woofer issue. I am expecting the sub woofer tomorrow and start using from next week after buying the stabilizer.

Overall, i feel it is an good choice.

I am using Asus oplay media player O!Play HDP-R1. Planning to buy an blue ray player in Jan.

Shesh
