Hello All,
My first post here , so please be kind :)

I had purchased a samsung d5000 40" LED TV sometime ago and now i want to connect my stereo amp to this tv. I couldn't see any stereo out other than headphone out ( which sucked ). My TV has a optical out only.

I want to know is there any way i can add a convert this optical signal to stereo which will be fed to my stereo amp.

I don't have a home theater and don't want to use it. Just want to connect my TV to my stereo amp. Any ideas?

If yes what should i use and what kind oa optical wire will fit.

Thanks for the help.

Hey,

You need to buy Optical Audio Cable to connect your TV with HT, I am using that.... Connecting USB to my TV and njoooying sound on my HT.......

what is your setup ? For what purpose you wanna use Optical ?

You need to add a Digital to Analogue converter in your chain as Optical means digital signal whereas your Stereo Amplifier will only take in Analogue inputs so you need a DAC to convert the signal from your TV to your Amplifier.

Optical out means it will output only digital signal. Unless your stereo amp has optical input, you need a standalone dac with optical in which will convert the digital signal to analog and send it to the amp.

Alternatively you can get a stereo to rca y cable and connect the amp to your tv with the headphone out.

How much are you willing to spend?

I have one more question related to Optical Audio Cable.....

My Problem is that sound which I get on -20 db while wathing TV through TataSky, I don't get the same while playing movies through TV USB for which I have connected the Optical Audio Cable....so for me I need to increase the volume till -10 db to get what I get on -20 db while watching TV through TataSky....

Any idea ?

Thanks
