Panasonic BDT-220 VS. PS3

Hi,

I went through a couple of threads on the subject but couldn't come up with a definite yes or a definite no, so i was hoping you could help me out?

I am getting a Optoma GT750E 720p projector soon (with built in 1.4a HDMI) and will be mainly using it for Blu-ray movies and 3D movies.

If I buy a blu-ray player, it'll be the Panasonic BDT-220 - have a fantastic deal on it with my reward points.

I do realise that the projector is only capable of 720p

My question is should I go for a dedicated Blu-ray player or a Playstation 3, without a loss in blu-ray/3D content quality?

Watching Avatar 3D for instance..........which would be better (or same) given my setup

Any feedback would really help as I am planning to buy today.

If you are interested in games also then get PS3 else BDP. The Pana model can be made region free for both blu-rays and dvds.

But what about the Quality in terms of 3D movies? Is there a difference - given my setup

I don't think there should be much PQ difference as both are outputting digital signal through HDMI. It is better to take demo of both and then decide.

The PS3 is a notch better in terms of PQ as reported by various sites. But it will be twice as costly and then it is near impossible to make it region-free. The Panasonic DMP-BDT220 is cheaper, very good and can be made region free.
