Any suggestions for reliable service in Chennai for my Viera TV other than authorised service providers. Just want to get it checked as it occasionally goes blinking. Thanks in advance.

In my experience, it is always better to get these electronics serviced by authorised service people. you can be assured that they would be using the right parts, and its life also should be relatively longer. check if they provide warranty for the serviced component.

Did you get your TV fixed. How was the experience with Panasonic? Their charges are prohibitive if TV is out of warranty.

My dad has a 42 inch LED Panasonic TV bought in May 2014. It stopped working about a year ago. It required the backlight assembly to be changed at a cost of Rs 8000 (1000 visit charges + 7000 for backlight and labour). The TV has stopped working again and from the looks of it, it is the same problem. Wondering whether to junk the TV or again spend 8000.

Their service is not only expensive, but their repairs are temporary going by both our experiences.

Not very happy with the quality / ability of some of the service engineers they send.

Not hearing good feedback in regards to service feedback or even reliability of their led tvs. I have shortlisted the shinobi pro 49D630D model and though reviews are great over its picture quality but looking at the after sales review here n elsewhere I am in fix whether to go for Panasonic or lg... It feels like a risky proposition going in for panssonic...

The panasonic tv i have (don't recollect the model) bought 7 years ago has stopped working. When I switch on the tv, the green led blinks and and after that the red led blinks 4 times in a cycle.
Should I get it fixed or buy a new tv?

Acc to google search 4 blinks indicate power sos (P/A board) failure. See if you can get panasonic service to check it out for you. Very unlikely that they will have a replacement board for that model. They wanted an inspection charge when they first came, when I said, I want it repaired, they did not insist on it. Later when they did not have replacement board they dropped the issue.

In the same boat myself,
8 trouble-free years - Panasonic 42 inch plasma.
2 red blinks.

The auth service center has shrugged it off (Thane, Bombay) - saying the parts for this model are not available - as panasonic has exited plasma. Since it is over 7 years old (not sure if that's a legit limit), company won't offer any help.

Any recommendations of some place in Chennai where I can take the TV for service.

Shreeraj electronics Adyar is one of the authorized service centres for Panasonic. Some techs are competent, others may not be so. Service centres are different for different areas

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
