Hi,

While going through the WDTV posts I happened to come across 'DTS PASS THROUGH' and 'DTS DOWNMIX'.Regarding DTS signals it said that a particular version was able to just 'passthrough' and the other upgraded version was able to 'downmix'.

Can any of our friends let me understand these terms.

Also please guide me as to the procedure of loading subtitles in the WDTV LIVE. After downloading a particular movie, I also download the subtitle file and put them in one folder. But when I copy it on my ext. hard disc and play it through the WD, I am not able to see the subtitles. The 'option' button when pressed displays "No subtitles".

Thanks and regards.

DTS has a special technology called Neural Surround DownMix technology that reduces a 5.1 surround sound to a stereo mix. This technology uses special analysis and correction tools to ensure intensity, coherence, polarity, and phase are all transferred into stereo.

When a system passes a audio signal through, it means that the signal is being sent out untouched in pure digital form.

Regarding subtitles, you have to get a .SRT files that has the exact same name as your video file. When the video is playing, press the Options button, and you should be shown a list of files you can choose from. Once you choose a file, the subtitles contents should be displayed.

Cheers
