Dear All,

I am trying to play a MKV file through USB of the Sony 370 Player but the player can recognize the video file once and play it without problem but when I am trying to play the same file after unplugging the USB the player hangs and reboots itself. I am using a 8GB Sony Flash Drive.

Why is this happening ? This is very peculiar, the playability is very erratic. I have tried 3 USB Flash Drives (FAT32) and the same problem is taking place. I can play the video files very well in the VLC Player but the Sony Player fails to play the MKV file sometimes. All files are below 4GB Size.

Kindly suggest.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I am wondering how can you play a file after unplugging the usb:D. I think the problem is when you unplug the usb and then reinsert it, right?

please explain this point, what exactly are you trying to do

I mean -After I unplug the USB Flash Drive and re-Plug it the MKV File doesnt play. This is a peculiar problem because the same MKV file plays well sometimes and sometimes it gets stuck and the 370 hangs and reboots........

If a file is incompatible then it should NEVER play. This is happening with all my Sandisk and Sony Flash Drives of 8GB capacity.

Is it a format profile problem ?? Will have to check......

Checked the Profile and its - [email protected] but still not playing.
I have used "MediaInfo" to check the Profile but its saying "Header Stripping" - What does it mean ?

It happens with my player too but not exactly the same problem.. sumtimes it does not play mkv file and then i've to reboot the player but after that it play other files normally.. it happens with sum files only not with every file.. may be coz of badly encoded files or may be files which player can't decode...

Problem solved - It was the Header Compression which the 370 dont recognize so best is to mux the file once only in MKV Merge 3.0.0 (dont use newer version but the old one) and the file will play in 370 USB.

Can you kindly be a bit more specific as I am also facing a similar kind of issue though is not exactly same like yours. 370 is able to play almost all the mkv files I have but for some of them the system is getting hanged and getting rebooted automatically after some times. By the way I have MKV Merge 4.8.0 installed in my system. Can you kindly let me know the steps I have to perform here.

Thanks in advance dada..........

Dear sanjub22 could you please tell me from where I can download mkv merge 3.0.0. Can you give me the URL pls? I am also facing the same problem. Many of my MKVs are not playing on my new S370 which I purchased a week back. So I am very depressed.

Please help. And also pls let me know what I exactly need to do once I download the software?

Go to the following URL and see the list of OLD VERSIONS, select Version 3.0.0
(size 5.10MB) and you are done.......

Go to the INPUT FILES and ADD file to the window, and then press START MUXING at the bottom after selecing the destination file location from BROWSE.

If you want to split the file then go to the GLOBAL page and select ENABLE SPLITTING.....AFTER THIS SIZE ( and select the size less then 4000MB) for it to play in 370.

Hope it helps.......

URL not specified. See this link Index of /videotools/mkvtoolnix/win32/

mkvtoolnix 3.0 helped me also. My sherwood bdp could play mp4 with aac files only in stereo sound through the 5.1 analog output. However 5.1 sound could be heard if the audio is in ac3 format or if the video is in mkv with aac or ac3. So first i used a tool called mp42mkvac3 to convert mp4 files to mkv with ac3 sound. This worked sometimes, but it has a bug which deletes all the files in the folder sometimes after conversion:sad:. So next i tried mkvtoolnix v4.8.0, but the video was not playable. Now i tried mkvtoolnix v3.0 and all mkv files are playable in my bdp with full 5.1 sound.:). The conversion takes just one or two minutes on my laptop.

Hi baijuxavior/Deba...Thanks a lot for your valuable reply. I can play few of my mkv files in S370 which were not playing previously by muxing through mkvmerge 3.0.0.

But the problem is few of my files or currently downloaded have a tag of mkv profile 5.1 which is not playing even after muxing.

Do you have a solution to this? is there any free reliable software where I can change the profile to the lower one without losing any quality of the file?

Please help....

I'm guessing your mp4 files before muxing are in profile 5.1. So first you will need to mux it to a lower profile using mp4muxer. Change the h264 profile under mpeg4-settings. Try to play the new mp4 file. If it fails then convert the new mp4 file to mkv using mkvtoolnix.

Hi.. Thanks for the help.. But the problem I am facing is with the MKV files. MP4 files are played fine.

Do you have any solution to the problem where I can change MKV profile from profile 5.1 to the lower one?

Even I am looking for a free software to downgrade the MKV Profile - Any one ??
