Dear friends,
The Philips Airfryer is taking the world by storm. Its ease of use and less chance of overcooking the food make it wonderful and safe to use even by teenagers.
One can make great french fries, Chicken 65, Baked Sweet corn, Samosas, Cutlets, Cakes, Peanuts... The list is seemingly endless. The aforementioned items are what I tried out to great success.
One can also instantly thaw frozen food.
The food is cooked quite fast, I observe.
It is available from e-tailers for a little over 9 Grand.
I think it is worth it.
So, Give it a try and post your experiences here.
Yours,

I notice that this product seemingly has not been well appreciated by the fairer gender (Women)... Why is that so? Is it because they are apprehensive about trying out something new? They keep saying that the airfryer is a good product for men. They fear that their hallowed cooking skills may be spoiled by using such "Toys".
For example, My mother and my sister-in-law keep a good distance from the Philips Airfryer and will not operate it even with the proverbial barge pole. Instead, They ask me to cook stuff for them and they are not even interested in learning how it works.. However good the food may have turned out.. Why is this so??

Now, Philips is launching the digital version of its Airfryer. With a numeric display and feather-touch buttons.
The old manual version just has a temperature dial and a timer knob with an end-of-cooking Bell.

The most common temperature setting on the Philips Airfryer recipes is between 160 to 180 degrees C. Though one can use less heat for rarer recipes and it can be heated all the way up to 200 degrees C.

I remember buying a gadget based on air-frying in a fair in Mangalore (Karawali fair) about 10 years back. It had cost me about Rs.1000 - 1500 then and I had used it extensively for frying various kinds of snacks till about last year. It used to look like a small mixer-grinder with the airfrying jar on top.

I am planning to buy another air-fryer but I can't understand the high price compared to the locally made version I had bought in Mangalore then.
Can I see the items while they are frying in these new models?

It's just that I like the concept of the Air Fryer. And the result has a sort of professional touch to it. Try and see. You may like it too.
And no... I don't work for Philips.

@subcenter2009.
Its good to know about this airfryer. By your information, i understand you are a very happy customer. Can you throw some light - like what negative apsects you came across on this product? This should know both sides of the coin. Like what @shivam said - why is it so expensive? What other benefits/disadvantages this have?

My wife bought one in Chennai about 5 years ago. When we came back home, she fried a couple of papads. Haven't seen it ever since.

Dear friends,
3 plus points of the Airfryer..

1. Requires very little or no added butter/oil/ghee. Simply coating the to be fried items with a teaspoonful of oil will normally be more than enough. I normally add the spoon of oil and toss it like one tosses a salad before putting into the device.

2. No/Very little cooking smell during cooking. I don't know how it manages this.. but there is hardly any bad smell even while cooking stuff like fish and chicken.

3. Professional look to the finished product: Even though for example marinated chicken is very gooey before putting into the fryer, I found out that the airfryed result is good looking and all pieces are separated and evenly done. Again, I don't know how this happens

Hope this interested you..

Doubt: Why are my posts in the General Lounge of HiFiVision.com not visible to me on my "Home" page? My posts in other sections are visible on my Home page. Are they visible on others' home pages? Or do you have to manually go to the General Lounge section?
How do I enable this?
