Is the Pioneer DV-610AV-K available in kolkata? It would be a big help if anyone could let me know where it is available.. (if it is grey market ... seller phone number would be okay...).

This I like for the DVD audio and SACD support. You have to listen to Kind of Blue (Miles Davies) or Dark Side of the moon(Pink Floyd) on SACD to know why ..

Well as for a DVD player I already have one.. Sony.. some upscaling model (I forget the name). The upscaling is not that good on that one. I am not much into playing downloaded content ... so the PS3 is enough for my media playing requirements... I have the the newer slim model, that does not support SACD..

Aah ... good question. DVD-A i haven't seen a lot in india. But SACDs tend to be available (at-least in kolkata) in the music shops from time to time. Their numbers are few, but if one is on the lookout, they can find. Also, you can get them ordered from amazon. A major problem is that sales people don't care to read up on formats etc. (too trivial for them to do that.. you know .. they're 'busy'), so when you go and ask someone in the store they'll probably say "not available" with a plain face.., but trust me they are there if you take the time to look for them.

Then buy it...myself being owner I can tell you that it is Paisa Vasool! maybe CA DVD player is better ( not seen ,also I think lacks SACD & DVD A support) and above it is Oppo which is discontinued!

While there is no DVD-A playback, the Sony BDP-S370 BD player is a fine upscaler that also happens to play SACDs and is available for 10K with bill and warranty in the Indian market.
