Pioneer VSX 521

Hi Guys

Just checked our Pioneer VSX 521 5.1 receiver in a store at mumbai.The price is 17K.Fits in my budget with allmost all the features that i was looking for.
Wanted to check on the sound quality .could not get a demo.
how would it perform with wharfedale 9.1 as of now.i would upgrade it to 5 speakers later.Would connect my tata sky hd and dvd player through hdmi ports.
Would the CD/DVD audio be transmitted through hdmi through receiver and to speakers? or do i need to connect the coaxial or component audio of dvd palyer to receiver.?

Pioneer 521 supports audio over HDMI. But for getting 5.1 from dth, you may need to use coaxial or optical depending on the dth provider.

I don't have 5 speakers. So 5.1 is ruled out for me as of now.
Will connect hdmi out of stb to hdmi Of receiver and then to tv.
Will it do anything great..?
Tv speakers will be turned off and tv audio out will be connected to receiver and then to wharfy speakers.am I correct?

Tommowrow when I need surround sound will use optical cable from stb to receiver??

Connect HDMI out of STB to HDMI in of avr and avr out to tv. When avr is on, sound will be heard through the wharf speakers and when avr is set to standby passthrough tv speakers will work. No need to mute the tv.
