Planning to buy Onkyo 3500 from Dubai

Planning to buy Onkyo 3500 from Dubai I have few questions.

1. Is it safe to carry the product in the flight from dubai?
2. Do we need to pay any TAX in the costumes..?

If any one have any experience buying this product in dubai please share.

Hi,

You can bring products upto Rs.35,000/- without customs duty. If the price is above this then you need to pay customs duty.

Also check the weight of the full HTB package. In flight they allow near to 30kg only. Any extra weight they charge a lot.

Don't bother, buy it here. Maybe you can even get discount. Not worth the effort honestly.

sjason, If I remember right, the 3500 comes with passive subwoofer. The 5500 comes with active subwoofer. So if you have plans to upgrade the subwoofer later and want to use the LFE out from AVR, the 5500 would be the better option.

kittu, core, HTIBs are much cheaper in the middle east, be it from onkyo or yamaha. The 3500, yamaha yht 196 etc can be had for around 15k inr, which would not be subject to customs. The weight of the package would be a problem though.

Edit: Though the higher model might come with an active sub, the subwoofers sound quality is not exactly better.

With the previous gen, i.e 3400 and 5400, another difference was that 3400 was 5.1 while the latter was 7.1.

If you buy from dubai. There will be no warranty in India. Please be aware of this...
