Hi All,

I want to buy a 42" plasma. my shortlist are Panasonic 42X20D, 42V20d and Samsung C430 and C450.

My budget is between 50-60K.

Viewing would be mainly cable (intend to buy Dish Tv as that has max. HD channels as of now) and movies (a lot of them). No gaming for me.

Somehow i felt that the sound clarity in Samsung is better than in Pana. Is that true?

Pls guide me which one should I buy. I just want a good picture quality + great sound combo... rest really doesn't matter to me. As i think all of them offer same other features (600 hz, low power consumption compared to earlier models etc). I dont even bother about the looks...

Let me know your recos with reasons...Intend to buy within next couple of weeks.

Cheers

When it comes to Plasma you can blindly go for Panasonic. At your budget you can chose widely popular 42V20.

In 42" 42V20d is the best bet, but in 50" there are a lot of competition and choosing Panasonic, LG or Samsung depends upon one's personal preference as each top end plasma's from these brands have their own advantage and disadvantage.

Why not go for the LG 50" pk550 which will be available for approx 63-65k?

As of now in 42" plasma Pana V20D is the best.
If you can wait for one or two months you may have the 2011 models out from Pana/Samy/LG.

Thanks all,
How about the sound quality of Panasonic... Frankly speaking, I found Samsung to be better at that...

The samsungs you mentioned cost 40k or less. Not in the 50-60k range.
For that money, they are great.

They do not quite compare with V20 in PQ. But V20 is 1.5 times more costlier at 60k.

In absolute terms V20 is the best and there is no competetion. For 40k though Samsung is good.

Don't decide TVs based on sound. You can fit the cheapest philips 5.1 external speaker for 4-5k and it will sound better than the inbuilt sound of any plasma TV.

^^^^
Correct when buying a TV the PQ is the priority, sound comes later. The sound quality of V20 is not bad you have lotza settings to play around with ;)

Panasonic v20d is the best. With panny, u also get 3 yrs warrantly. However, if you are like me who wants a bigger size screen at affordable pricing, then you should look at panasonic 50 inch screen (50x20d). New models are arriving, so these earlier models are selling at several places at very low prices. I just bagged panny 50x20d for Rs. 48, 990 in bangalore. 50X20D is only HD (1024*760) ready, but at viewing distances of 7 ft or more, i was happy with the picture. So i went for that.

Hi Bro,
You can go simply with Panny in plasma, its the best available.
About sound just add additional 5.1 player around 4-5K and you r ready!!!
CHEERS !!!:clapping:

Guys, If I have to compare panasonic 42X20D with Samsung C450... which one is better.
Frankly speaking, I didnt see any huge difference between Full HD and HD ready...May be it is not worth spending that extra 20K for Full HD.

Let me know your views about the best HD Ready Plasma. Need to finalise the deal by coming weekend...Cheers and thanks for all the advice...

V20 has lesser reflection and much better black level. And yes, 1080p is not an upgrade in any way fo 42" TVs. While V20 is worth the price, if 1080p is the only reason you are looking at it, C450 or X20 should do it for you.

Between, C450 and X20, its personal preference. C450 has good HD USB playback and IMO better colours than the X20. Black level is also comparable. I have previous years B450 and am happy. I would pick the C450 if I were to choose between those two and V20 is I wanted the best TV out there.

Blasto, need help on plasma..which one to go for...in 50" plasmas...i need razor thin, VFM, feature loaded and budget is max 65k

If you can wait for a month, wait. 2011 models will be coming in from panasonic and samsung.

If not, you can get the samsung C550 for around the price. There was a special price for HFV members from vaibhav from chennai on 6 series samsung plasma for 67k. It is unbeatable. Find out if it is still valid.

Thanks,
