plasma tv problem for first 15 mins in the morning

I have 50 inch Phillips 9966 plasma tv. the problem started a couple of weeks ago when on the left hand side of the screen there was horizontal black patch that did not show any picture while the rest of the screen was alright

after about 5 mins the picture was back to normal. this has been happening everyday just that the time taken for the picture to get to normal is almost 15 mins and increasing. the patch goest from black or to xray like to blurry and the normal

Could somebody advise what the problem could be. it is a 2005 model and hence support from philips is not very enthusiastic

I am no expert but this looks as the same problem as mentioned here:

1. i have a samsung plasma tv and their is two black patches in - JustAnswer

It appears that plasma cells are failing/dying.

Some old plasma tv's take time to warm up. In your case probably phosphors in that area of the screen have aged more than the phosphors in the other areas. Hence those phosphors take time to warm up but other areas light up faster.
