I got a good deal on a used Tascam-DA3000 ADDA
It plays back from USB drives and CF card. old school.
It also take Digital and analog sources.
I have settled down to using it with my macbook pro optical out -> Optical to RCA Spdif converter -> and a DIY "Whammy" Headphone amp
for Schiits and giggles, this weekend I cascaded it to another DAC , an old Schiit Modi-2 Uber, that I have been using for many years and very familiar with its sound.
Spdif out of the tascam to Modi, and then the Headphone Amp.
This setup totally transformed the old Schiit DAC performance. The only reason(s) I can think of are the upsampling and a far better clock inside the Tascam doing this magic.
I am now looking for a streamer, pref with AES/EBU on XLR..
and unfortunately Pi2aes is not available anywhere I looked.
