Hi Everybody

I am new on this forum and need your support.

I have bought a Bose 301 Series V Direct /Reflecting Speaker System yesterday. The specifications for the same are as follows :
RMS rating: 10-150 watts per channel
Impedence: 4-8 ohms

I want to get amplifiers for the same. Could you please suggest the best amplifier for the speakers within a budget of max 15000 which I would get in Kolkata. At this budget would I get any amplifier @ 100 w per channel ? Pls suggest as I am dying to listen to the speakers. If required I am ready to stretch my budget by another 2000.

Thanks and Regards

In this forum you do not find much praise about bose. Also their detailed audio parameters are not published.

Upto 15 k you can get Norge but I never come aross any review pairing norge with bose .
Also you can try Sonodyne as I heard it is widely available in kolkata..

Also see for used amplifiers ...as amplifiers as old as 30-40 years ( yes! ) gives good service.Amps 5-10 year old is fantastic value.

If possible carry your speakers for audition. also fixed on a source ( CDP,DVDP or anything else)
If possible carry source ,YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC speakers at the venue of audition. This will take care of many parameters except Room and placement ,but least it will be close.

At leaset carry YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC and speakers!

Around 8 years back I had usedbose 201 's initially paired with vintage snodyne amp. At thta age I found sound was quiet good.Later when I upgraded sonodyne with fisher amp which was NOT AT ALL matching with bose( too powerful.) So I sold fisher and got vintage sansui which was better than Sonodyne.Later I sold all kit and upgaded.

Kolkata members any help to this member?

denon goes well with bose
Get a a 40-50rms denon PMA 500 or a 70rms PMA 700 int denon amp

Dont go by specs alone. Carry your speakers to both the showrooms along with your favourite cd's and trust your ears.

I have Bose 301 speakers gifted by my sister and I found Denon PMA 710AE
mating it with quite well. The Profx show-room dealer at Gariahat was quite helpful in this regard.

My gut feeling says denon..
AS to be honest yamaha is not "very honest" with ratings.

Also Magma is resident expert and his opinion defiantly carry some weight...:)

I have the Bose 301's as fronts for my Pioneer VSX-1121K receiver. They sound lovely irrespective of what others might say.
Like somebody suggested - try a side by side comparison if possible.
I would put my money on the Denon since they generally have a warmer sound.

carry your speakers into profx garihat, and also try harmonie audio, new alipore and also hear sonodyne amp at south city mall......if possible best is carring the cd player also as suggested by many members........
anyway my vote goes for the denon than yam....

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
