Hello everyone,
Maybe this will interest someone, because I haven't found anything about it online. I bought an old Jarrah, cleaned and measured some capacitors. It turned out that not all of them kept their parameters. Old Bennic with discoloration did not look good either.
I ordered:
Audio Note Kaisei POLAR 100uF 63Vdc x6
Audio Note Standard 1000uF 63Vdc x2
Elna Cerafine ROA 22uF 25Vdc x2
Elna Silmic II RFS x4
and
Duelund CAST PP Polypropylene Capacitor 1uF 250Vdc x6
Amtrans AMCG 2E Metalized Polypropylene 0.1uF 250Vdc x6 (which came from Canada, because I couldn't find in the UK)
First I changed power section Audio Note/Elna and it turned out that both channels sounded equal, which was not obvious before. Then Duelund and here's a note: they have thicker leads than the standard ones so I had to re-drill holes. A significant improvement in sound in every aspect, and above all, clarity. It was time for Amtrans. Easy application and everything collapsed! Mud, silting, lack of dynamics and the sound somewhere outside the speakers, a tragedy. I read that they need some time to burn out, but I checked to make sure I didn't screw something up. I decided to wait it out and it was a good decision. Now over 100 hours have passed (for some magic hours) and the sound is amazing, worth money and improvement.
Maybe my experiences will be useful to someone...
All the best.
