Hello folks, just wanted to know if it is ok to connect hifi equipment ( amp + cdp ) to a suge protector ( Belkin ) which is in turn connected to the surge-protection-only unit of a UPS ( APC Back-UPS 1100va ) ? I am not using the back up unit, only the surge protection.

I am aware that it has been established that a pure sine wave online ups is the best way, but as the title suggests, am just looking for a solution that makes sure that when power is not ideal or does go off, the audio equipment shuts down without its power circuit dying. Does this setup look ok to you fellas ?

Sometimes two surge protector units connected in series like you are doing can cause problems in the first unit (APC in your case).

My suggestion is to use any one of these two solutions and make sure that the joule rating (protection rating) is high.

If you have erratic voltage fluctuations then opt for a stabilizer too.
