hey guys, I'm on the lookout for a portable audio source after my dear old E72's jack gave up, I love its SQ (EQ off)

Budget: 5-7k
Headphones: currently Cowon Em1, will buy a pair of cans in a few months
Playback: MP3 320kbps, FLAC
Battery life: should be good, I listen music like 8-10 hrs a day, should last longer than that
memory: expandable micro sd slot

Cowon has a open box sale, they're selling Demo models up for sale, J3 [email protected], whatsay guys

You can get an iPod for about the same price. If you can find some one wanting to let go of this iPod classic you can strike gold for very little.

Alternatively, go for a smartphone with good AQ. Samsung Galaxy series has good audio.

get a sansa clip+ or clip zip...

either use stock OS else Rockbox it and you will have all the sound quality you want.
should be between 3-4k and it takes 32 GB memory card + 4GB internal.

plays flacs, mp3 etc out of the box and battery life should be 10-12 hours and its super portable.

I didnt find any warranty info on sansa products in India
what would be the ranking for fuze vs clip+ vs fuze + vs clip zip
I could flip out on FLAC, coz presently all my music is mp3 320
Battery life is must

thnx for ya help guys
just wondering is pl 30 still good enough today? I mean I heard a lot abt it back in '11, so like are they still that gud, besides where to get pl from? How much will they cost today?
Now I'm using Cowon EM1, had UE 200 before this, IEMs are good but I like these now, open back and better, or should I go for cans?

I had seen pl30 from flipkart and as well from headdirect. It is good with sansa product. You can have player and good matching earphone within your budget. Pl30 costs INR 1.9k to 2.5k.

Thanks
Badri

Any Sony product they are just VFM!!

seriously dude, come on, sony isnt good, yh the UI and looks and build is gud but SQ wise, its a different story.

PL30 - good instrument separation + great sound stage + zero bass . But there are not so many options left at this range either. But, definitely in box earphone of any portable audio device wont be even close to average. So, upgrade is recommended along with the purchase.

Using a second hand J3(originally bought in 2010 itself ) for over 6 months. Paired with Tekfusion Twinwoofers M series headset. J3 is undoubtedly the best audio player still. Leave aside stupid Ipod's and Smartphones. If You are good at negotiations try this link For Sale : Music Players Cowon J3 16GB White with Cowon Leather Case and Charger. Pretty good deal if you can lock it up for 8k. If possible push up your budget and get a good pair of iem. And about the sluggish UI it can be replaced easily as it runs on Flash UI. And most Important factor is battery. I get around 50hrs straight on a single charge. If you listen 4 hrs max a day it can last for a week atleast

saw that earlier, he was asking for 10k at that time, if he could go for 6k, it'd be a gud deal, as it was the price mentioned at open box clearance sale by Cowon india, and I will try bargaining, besides never did a forum purchase before this, and he's not from Delhi is he?

I bought 32Gb one without charger for 12k six months back from that forum only(just FYI).Communicate with him and go for a video chat(the way i did it). He has completed a deal previously with 100% feedback, so i guess he is genuine seller .And regarding shipping it will be pretty cheap at max rs 200

the deal he completed was buying an item abt 1k cost, I'd have preferred if he'd sold off 2-3 things atleast.
Besides he lives in bangalore, it'd have been gud if someone from delhi would have posted a deal.

what abt the Nationite N2, is it gud for 2-2.5k?

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
