Hello All,

Wish you all a very Happy Holi :)

I am thinking of adding a power amplifier to drive my fronts and would appreciate your advise and suggestions please.

My system consists of the following:

Fronts: B&W CM8 S2
Centre: B&W CM Centre S2
Surround: B&W M1
Sub: Rel T9
Receiver: Marantz SR5009
Blueray Player: Oppo BDP103D
TV: Samsung SUHD 55"

I have shortlisted Marantz MM7025 and Marantz PM-14S1 but I am in a dilemma. My heart says go for the PM-14S1 but logic says not to spend the stupendous Rs2,50,000 for it, instead go for the MM7025 which is much more affordable.

Look forward to your valued suggestions and associated justifications.

Kgppg,
Impressive Rig :-), Who are you looking for Power Amp? Instead you could go with Integrated Amp with the Budget.

Since you looking to add some power to Front, I reckon that you going to use them for Music Only.

Hi kgppg

Firstly you already have a SR5009 which is a 7.2 AVR......based on the details shared, you are using a 5.1 setup.

You have the option to Bi AMP channels and supply the power to your towers which will drive flawlessly....also you can use the option of Speakers A + B.....

Secondly, audyssey setups don't unleash the actual potential of most avrs and hence if you check, you can still increased the speaker channel levels.....

Thirdly, there is a 9 band adjustable EQ for each channel, make these adjustment...

Bass + Treble is also another setting to play with......

Lastly the Source Level can also be adjusted ...

After you do this....cautiously try out and see if this works...ofcourse any electronic gets warm...better to use cooling fans to keep the AVR in optimal condition....

I use a SR5008 and hence have tried out all this with fantastic results....

So before you consider investing in a power amp, do these settings and let us know....

All the best

Thanks Audio Freek,efernand1 and shibashis for responding.

Audio Freek- Yes I am mainly looking for better quality music than the AVR can give, while having the flexibility use the 5.1 HT system for movies.

efernand1: Appreciate your advise, I will try fiddling with my SR5009 before deciding one way or the other. Unfortunately I am currently at sea and will have to wait till I am back home in April to try out your suggestions... Will keep you posted as to the outcome.

shibashis- Thanks, I will check out the Emotiva...

Check this other internet direct company too: Outlaw Audio
Marantz AVRs pair quite well with their amps. Good value for money.
I own a couple of monoblocks from them paired with a Marantz IA and Marantz AVR.
Cheers,
Raghu

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
