Projector UPS - APC Back UPS BR600C-IN 600VA

I had this UPS for MY HD20, but it worked for few weeks and after that it was making over load sound with power failure. It happened twice, the APC Technician told me that projector needs higher VA rating and he suggested to go with 1000VA model.

same here. For my HD20, I bought 800VA initially and later 1100VA as former did not support. HD20's about 350W.

Prosenjit it says Waveform Type is Stepped approximation to a sinewave... don't know what that really means.

My PJs lamp is 195 Watts and PJ is 230 Watts.

I have been using a Microtek 650VA UPS for my Sony 32' LCD & Airtel STB for the past 2 years. It is only needed to provide backup for a max of 2 mins till the genset kicks in. Everything is fine till now. I suppose its better than not using a ups at all.

I am not sure if 2 mins of impure power a day can damage HT electronics.

Need to get one for a projector now, which is more sensitive.

^^apc seems good.It is basically kind of a home inverter and would require heavier batteries meaning more cost.Online ups might be a better idea as there is no switchover involved plus cheaper batteries due to shorter backup. For those who require longer backup apc one seems good.

^^ If you have the budget go for Emerson Liebert 1KVA online with internal battery. Will cost you around 18K. External battery model will cost around 24K.

Can someone give more info regarding how a 'stepped up to sinewave' ups can affect a PJ? I am using a similar one for 1-2mins back up.

UPS was used for1 0r 2 times only in the past 10 months. For such usage, is it still harmful and in what way?

No way. Although stepped up sinewave is not as good as pure sinewave but it can be used occasionally and should not damage the equipment.
High end Audio equipment is more sensitive.

Secondly projectors use smps based power supply which can handle this.

To be 100% safe you can use the ups to immediately shut down the equipment if the power is not expected to return within 2-4 mins.

I never use my ups for over 3 mins.
My 2cents.

Projector will take time to cool after you change to stand by mode.
2 minutes will not enough i think. If you switch over to generator during the 2 minutes then no issue.
