Hello,

Iam planning to buy a Panasonic PS64F8500 Plasma in Bangalore for Diwali. Could anyone suggest the best way to buy it?

1.Buying it from Bangkok or Dubai
2.Buying it from grey market in Bangalore
3.Buying it from any authorised dealer like Reliance Digital, Girias etc.,

Iam confused on the purchase place as Iam looking for the best price.

Please suggest.

Regards,

It is not Panasonic. Its a Samsung.
It is not safe to transport Plasmas for long distances. Be careful.

1. Dubai and Bangkok purchase is cheaper, but you will have to pay a 36% charge when you reach India.
2. Warranty might be an issue.
3. more expensive, they might do the installation.

1. Buying it from Thailand will be cheaper if you're using it there, importing it will be a problem as it might get damaged in transit and you'll be slapped 36% duties on it. And also no warranty.
2. Again, no warranty.
3. Buying it from authorized dealer will be the best as you'll get warranty, extended warranty and quick service. Wait for Diwali, you'll get discounts and freebies.

You cant carry it with you as checkin baggage for sure. too big. If you do unaccompanied baggage or send by Air freight then your duty is total import duty 30.14% of the total of (Price+Freight Cost+Insurance). The packaging of the plasma is extra deep to protect the PLASMA screen. Therefore your volumetric weight will probably be about 3 times the actual weight of the package. I dont know what the freight costs are from bangkok but its bound to be substantial with the volumetric pricing and most likely your TV will cost much more than what you would pay for in India.
