query on Wharfedale SW150

guys, i am finally got my first home theater. I went for Wharfedale 9.1 (fronts), Wharfedale WH2 (center, surround) and Wharfedale SW150. I also got Denon AVR 1312 and Sony DVD player with HDMI. I am yet to install the center and surround.
I have only one doubt please help me solve it..
My subwoofer is not sounding as sharp and thumping as it should. what to do??
and can i set the channel level for subwoofer at a higher level than other speakers?? does that affect quality??

check connections to the subwoofer.

check sub woofer setting as per Denon AVR manual. You can set the channel level higher. It should not impact the other speakers but in general not too high.

Sometimes. speakers tale bit of time say about 100 hrs to break in but check with your dealer nevertheless.

hey thanks very much mpw, i would check that. But denon manual doesnt have anything much. I will try to change the position and wait for 100 hrs.!! Just one thing? would connecting a rca cable with one rca plug on receiver's end and two on the sub's end help, hw much difference would it make to the sound output of the sub??

I dont think it will make a difference. Just using good quality one RCA to one RCA cable (So called Digital) from AVR to Subwoofer will do.

Your Crossover settings on your AVR will also play a vital role. What are your Speaker Size settings and LFE Crossover settings on AVR?

Hi, congrats on your new system, good choice!!! if I may ask, how much did the 5.1 system cost without the DVD player?

All speakers are "small", subwoofer "yes" and crossover in AVR is 80 or 85. I have kept the crossover of sw at the highest. I have kept channel level of Sub at 4 db whereas other channels is 0.0 db.

In fact now it has started sounding good. I am happy for everyone's help..!
