Hello everyone. I read santnai's thread 'Turntable from USA'. According to quad's post, a turntable with a DC motor isn't dependent on the AC line frequency. But I still wanted to make sure.

The turntable in question, is a Sony PS-X6. Sony PS-X6 on thevintageknob.org. According to the user manual on sony's site, the motor is brush-less(and slot-less) DC servo-controlled. The speed locking mechanism, uses a 'barium-ferrite magnetic imprint, 8-pole reading head, X'Tal locking by phase loop and brush-less / slot-less motor.' I do not fully understand that technical description. I have been told that a DC motor requires a rectifier IC to convert ac to dc. Is that what this is?

So, in summary, my question is, will I be fine with a step-down transformer?
