Its new year eve. In less than two hours 2013 will ring in.

Breaking from the ritual we (me and wife) are at home this year. Perhaps due to the general gloom following the unfortunate incident with the young girl in Delhi.

Outdoors the weather is bone chilling. Winter has been particularly severe this year in our parts.

Inside the living room its low and dark. My humble valve amp is making aural and visual magic. The burning thorium of the 300B and VT25 triodes are burnishing the room with a warm glow. We are saving electricity by switching off all other lights.

Just finished spinning Ella Swings Gently With Nelson (1962 - Verve LP). Ella's voice is euphonious, Nelson Riddle Orchestra is superlative. Recording is top notch. Next up is Ella with Count Bessie.

The heat from the 300B is warming my feet, while my palms nurse a stiff Bourbon. I know a certain moderator disapproves anything other than single malts ;)

I dont know what 2013 has in store for us. I hope its mostly good. But right now I am hanging onto these last moments of 2012. Its just magical. I know tomorrow I will revisit this post and in true morning after spirit rue this momentary lapse of reason ;)

Happy new year 2013 to you my friends !

Hi,

Happy New Year Ashok. It's nice to see you visiting these parts often, after a long absence.

Hope all of us get to meet in 2013,over Bourbon and Single Malt.

Regards
Rajiv

Its rewarding to interact with accomplished individuals like you. hifivision provides that opportunity. Staying away is losing out on that !

Exactly. Any drink; a coffee or a hot cocoa works fine.

Aks,That's a beautiful picture you have painted with your words! Wish you a happy new year! Which turntable are you spinning those records on?

And, I pray, no woman falls prey to such inhuman behavior.
