Hi is there anybody in this forum using this power amplifier? I have been using this 5 channel rotel power amp with my Denon 1907 as preamplifier for my 3.0 setup(FRONT,CENTER). Recently I added wharfadale surround speakers but noticed that During certain scenes the rb985 protection indicator lights up & causes distortion in the surround speaker. I tried powering the speakers directly from denon (instead of preouts) everything works fine. My doubt is am I having problem with my rotel power amp surround out alone? Since all other channels are working fine.

Strange, I tried this & it worked I was using some standard speaker cables I just changed them to some branded chord cables and guess what the problem was solved. The scene I tested was Dark knight rises Bane introduction scene which was very heavy on bass with the planes zooming around., Only when the heavy bass plays clipping occurs on the surround speakers, Anyone knows the reason for this happening? Is speaker cables that important?

Are you running the surround speakers full range (or) set a crossover ?

ran at full range., if i run at crossover that distortion never occurs., Maybe this is because my surround speakers are not able to produce those lows,Is it so elango?

Yup...Could be... What is the lowest freq that your surround speaker can handle per the specification ?.. Set that as the crossover & it shouldn't' clip
