I'm having in a slight confusion out of these two, of which one offers real 3D expreience to test out my new samsung H4900 3D tv which arrives next week. I'm on the lookout for some 3D movies. So,downloading a bunch of 3D BR movies rips for that purpose.

These are 2 screenshots of the 3d movie godzilla. One is a 3D rip and other one is normal rip.

Does the double screen really boost the 3D experience overall ? Or its all the same when it comes to a rip ?

3D tv users pls help. :)

The first image is 2d. What you need is the second one known as Half Side by Side (HSBS) 3D. There is also Over-Under (HOU) 3D. During playback you should select the appropriate 3d mode in your TV.

Thanks!
When I looked up on the net, I found that there are SBS,HSBS & HOU 3D formats. Which one has better effects on Active 3D displays ?

Or anyone ?

Don't have a 3D blu ray player yet. Might be getting one by X'mas time.
Just looking to download some 3D rip movies for usb/hdd playback.
Then I started having these confusions about the formats.
YIFY offers 3d rips @ around 1.5-2.5GB.

3D formats are basically divided in to 3 catagories. And the formats should not be confused with the different 3D technologies used to create that movie.

1. Frame Sequential, Original 3D Bluray Disk
2. SBS - Side by Side
3. Top-Bottom - also known as Over Under.

no 2 and 3 are not genuine 3D formats per se as any movie 2D can be converted to 3D using scripts and viewed as SBS and TB, and any media player (HW or SW) can play the SBS and TB format. Its the responsibility of the display to merge the SBS and TB in to one image to get that 3D vision.

Original 3D is Frame Sequential, which is what you get on 3D Blurays. Even in that a movie digitally shot in native 3D (Avatar, Dredd 3D ...etc) will have the most prominent 3D experience. Rest all are post processed.

Then comes the passive and active modes, with active mode further divided in to DLP-Link and IR/RF ........ but thats out of the scope of this thread ......

A 1.5 GB 3D rip will be as crappy (infact more) than its 2D counterpart. For any decent 3D experience on SBS/TB, atleast 7-10 GB rip is needed. 5 might do if your display size is less than 47"

Rest nothing comes close to Original 3D Disk or ISO ....

I come to know that 3D effects are all the same compared to an actual 3D-Blu-ray. only Video/Audio quality that makes the difference.
Don't know which one is better of the rips, SBS or HOU

Display size is '43. I already downloaded 3-4 Yify 3drips around that size..so will check out 5-10gb rips later.
Also, I found that majority of all the 3D rips available are in HSBS format. Hard to find any other formats. So I'm assuming that HSBS/SBS offers more in 3D

lol who so ever said that , does not know what he is saying ...... there is a leaps and Bounds difference between SBS/TB 3D and 3D ISO (FS) ......

And for the best experience make sure that the movie was released in 3D or better shot in 3D and then converted to SBS or TB .......not someone converting a 2D to 3D(SBS/TB) and uploaded. Lots of these 3D floating on internet.

Yes ISO files are untouched ...... and huge in size (obviously) SBS are rips just like we have normal 2D rips.
