I am looking for Home Theater setup for my flat. It will be placed in my living room, the details of which are in the attached file.

Budget is Rs. 40000 to Rs. 50000.

After researching, i realized that AVR + Speakers would be best combination. Though HTIbs are also available. If good combination of AVR + Spe. are not available in the price range, then would go for Yamaha 299 as i think would be the best in this category.

It will mainly be used for 70% Movies and 30% Music.

Area: ~240 Sq. Ft, Ceiling Height 10 Ft.

So please help me in deciding the following:

1.) AVR
2.) Speakers

Any other suggestion is most welcome.

I think 40-50K is not enough....
20-25K is required only for AVR...Rest is required for 5 speaker+sub

why dont you opt for making setup step by step.
AVR then speakers (as per funds availability )

If you just want the system for casual music listening and watching some movies from a DVD or 700mb rips, then just opt for a HTiB. If you are seriously into it and look at spending more time listening to music or watching movies from a HD source, then you need to setup your system piece by piece.

Get an AVR and a set of bookshelves for your budget and add components later on when the budget permits.

Guys,

Went to Audio Desire in Mumbai today and asked about the prices of speaker cables.
Was quoted Rs. 7100 for DAC OFC 14AWG. The same price from HIFi Mart was Rs. 7000.
He also offered me some Brand "Stagefine" 16 AWG for RS. 2700. I thought the quality of DAC cable was much better. Do u think the price is justified for DAC?

Also, i told him about me planning to buy Pioneer RS-33 as i really liked the sound quality in Reliance Digital. I am getting it for Rs. 37k after discount. He suggested to instead go for Denon X500 + Polk Audio RM6750 set up which will cost me about Rs. 61K.

Please suggest if this system will give me home theater experience in my living room compared to Pioneer RS-33. The dimensions is attached in the first post (14 ft x16 ft).

You can go with any entry level avr and for budget speakers you can look at altec.
They are around 28000 for five speakers which includes 2 towers and they are available for demo with sanen acoustics Mumbai his name is kunal desai and its at Mulund. These are very good speakers at the price point and you don't need subwoofer with it for moderate use . You can add a subwoofer later

I read very promising reviews for this combination (Denon X500 and Boston Acoustics Soundware XS 5.1) and it has got my fancy. Can anyone suggest me a dealer/shop to audition the combo in Pune or Mumbai, please?

Also, what are your reviews about the Bose Cinemate GS series III? Though I know a lot of you will condemn the idea of even thinking about buying those, I really liked the sound of them.

Here's the link to BA authorized dealers. For Denon AVRs Fairdeal electronics is offering best deals, I bought mine (X500) for 22K from them and is the best price I could get.

Regarding Bose, I say

Hi

The Boston Acoustics Soundware XS 5.1 are good speakers which is true value for performance and quality. Been over a year now using the same with a Marantz NR 1402 and have no complaints.

The same is available with MZ Audio Bandra west or FairDeal at Crawford Market South Mumbai or Sound Out at Haji Ali.

In terms of AVRs, Denon X500 is good, X1000 is better. The Yamaha 375 / 475 is good too. All depends on what you want in an AVR and your budget. These speakers easily match with any of these AVRs.

I've been trying to get the BA demo in Pune, but that seems impossible. No one keeps Bas in their store in Pune. It is available only against orders. If anyone knows any dealer whos has the BA setup for demo, please share the details.

Hi

Reliance Digital sells the Boston Acoustics...if possible visit one of their stores and try to demo the same

At Kumar Pacific Mall on Shankarsheth Rd.Pune there is a Bose store & Reliance Digital on the same floor opposite to each other. You may try it there.
