Budget :

30k to 40k - possible to stretch it.

Display type and size :
43" (distance from wall is 11 ft)

Not particular about 4K as long as PQ is good.

Brand Preference :
No preference, but ok to go for less known brands, without compromising in quality.

I am looking at Dolby vision / HDR 10 but reading some threads here, it seems without at lest 800 nits, its not useful - not sure if its worth it then.

lg 43 inch jazz series 4ktv around 44k... the best in that budget but for deeper black go for Samsung 43 inch... the lg one is what i have in my bedroom ht setup. very happy with it...

can you elaborate why do you actually need dolby vision? since i see no dolby vision content in india...anyway the lg 43 inch is hdr10 compatible

Be wary of HDR. Most TV sets won't be able to achieve a good HDR image, not even the midrange ones. Plus, if you watch content via native apps, in most cases, HDR can't be turned off. So you'll be stuck with shitty HDR. A FHD set without HDR would be my choice at 43" and 11 feet distance, as most 4k ones have slapped on HDR that just sucks. VA panels will give you better contrast; IPS better viewing angles. Vu sells rebranded Hisense TVs, that too the cheaper ones. Iffalcon has a 40 inch one that's decent. If you can fit a 49 inch one, take Iffalcon's 49 inch FHD TV.

@Marakk I am skeptical as well of 4k TVs, and I'm ok with a good FHD, but I'm unsure about the after sales support and quality of VU and Iffalcon. Never heard of them before, so thought it'll be safer to stay with the known brands. However, my current Samsung Tv died within 4 years, so that is that.

pick up something between the lg 6708 or Samsung 6100 both are smart tvs with 4k capabilities... Samsung panel has better contrast but narrow viewing angles while lg is good but contrast wise not all that great but you will notice the difference between these two only in a dark room otherwise its really hard to tell the difference... the lg jazz series 43k is one of the most decent sounding tv right now available in the market

Panasonic FX650D series its picture quality is nice and has USB 3.0 support ,hdr10,hdr10+ support ultra bright panel plus with comparision with LG 6780 it will make difference

Local dimming in Samsung? No. You're mistaken. Samsung isn't offering local dimming even in their new Q60 range. There is no local dimming in the Samsung NU6100 or NU7100/RU7100. Plus, Samsung isn't mentioning which panel they use; IPS or VA. Google "Samsung panel lottery" and "Samsung DSE". The LG and Panasonic ones are IPS panels. At least with these cheaper brands, you know for sure that you'll get a VA panel.

Iffalcon is TCL. I would recommend that. If you want to take a risk, look at Shinco. They are mentioning a Samsung panel with 6000:1 static contrast, which is great. Use it with fire stick 4k. Iffalcon and TCL guarantee 4000:1 static contrast.

Read reviews of Hisense R7 (Vu Pixelight) and H8E (Vu Premium Android). Vu simply sells rebranded Hisense TVs, along with lying about their static contrast on Flipkart page. Check and compare stats and pics. Anyview cast is also a Hisense app.

@Marakk Local diming is mentioned on the tvnama site, but I'm not able to find it on samsung offical site. I was looking at VU Premium Android, but the 43" is sold out. I asked VU support, and they said it'll be in stock on 25th June. The Vu Pixelight is available, but I would prefere the Premium Android. But I'm wondering if I should wait or just go with one of these 3 - not sure what to do now.

@jenimukanna the 49FX730D is at 66k, samsung one is around 50k, both on higher side.

@rag_s 100% Samsung's 6 and 7 series don't have local dimming. I remember 7470 having it though, albeit on an international Samsung site. Anyway, as you can check on Rtings, Samsung's local dimming on cheaper sets, like NU8000 and Q6FN, are horribly implemented. So even if it's there in 7470, it'll be terrible.

Panasonic's 2019 range would be better when it launches. Unlike 2018 range, it'll have VA panels. So you'll get good contrast and local dimming. Don't confuse local dimming with micro dimming, which TV manufacturers are mentioning to confuse people. You'll have to wait for them to launch and then go on sale though. Maybe during independence day. So that's a 3 month long wait. Might be worth it to get a good set that has effective local dimming.

I second that, Panasonic GX series is awesome. And if GX800 and above are launched for reasonable price range over the similar series (not features, just series) of Samsung and other brands, nobody should buy anything other than Panasonic. The only con they still represent is the poor availability of Apps, something that can be easily tackled with casting or software update. But, features and hardware wise they (Panasonic GX series TVs) are the best that I've seen so far.

Have you seen them in person? I wanted to check them out, but local stores said haven't arrived yet. They seem promising from review. Better than the hack Samsung at least. Do you know that Samsung also reduces dimming zones on international models? I was looking at Q70R, but I just can't get myself to trust Samsung now.
