Hello guys, can you please recommend a home theater system for my current setup. I have a -

LG 47 LED
Sony PS3
Tata Sky HD Plus set top box
No BD or DVD player (since I use PS3)

Approx 800 sq ft living room, but sitting area with the TV is 400 sq ft and rest is dining.

My budget is around Rs.45K but I can go for even 20K if suitable. I will mostly be using it for movies with a little bit of gaming and watching sports on home theater.

I have demo'ed and narrowed down on the following systems, but am still confused and can't make up my mind-

Denon dht 1312xp - Rs.35k
Onkyo HT-S3400 - Rs.28k
Onkyo HTX-22HDX - Rs.22k
Boston Acoustics TVee 30 soundbar - Rs.30k

I'm inclined towards denon 1312 since that has a powered woofer but the onkyo S3400 is more popular and highly recommended on websites.

The only reason I have included onkyo HTX-22HDX and boston acoustics TVee 30 soundbar is because they provide me with a clutter free home theater system. No wires hanging here and there with simple setup and use. Ideally I would like wireless speakers but I just can't get them in my budget for these brands. TVee 30 sounbar has bluetooh sync with my iphone so I can play music wirelessly which is great.

Also, one of my consideration is a one press on and off button for TV and home theater. I hate using multiple remotes everytime to switch on TV.

Also, I'm not sure if I should go for a high end Sony or Samsung (with wireless speakers, wifi, etc.) rather than go for a low end denon or onkyo.

I'm totally confused!!

I would suggest the Denon/Onkyo/Yamah HTIBs. But with 45K budget you can even consider a Denon 1312/1612 or Yamaha 371/471 AVR and a 5.1 speaker system like the JBL 300 or the Boston Acoustics Soundware. I haven't auditioned any of these combo, but no doubt this will be much better than the HTIB route.

Also consider this offer from HFMart - Wharfedale Moviestar 100 5.1 Speakers + Yamaha RXV 371 AV Receiver Home Theatre Package

For the remote control menace, what you need is a Universal Remote control like the Logitech Hamony 525 which I am using.

In a 800 sq feet living room with your listening position at 400 sq feet away

That is huge ... None of the above mentioned products you mentioned will suffice. I am being blunt but facts are facts.

Guys lets be realistic lets put some points below

800 sq feet room that is something like a 20 feet x 40 feet room with the listening position at something like 20 x 20.(hypothetical since the OP has not given exact room dimensions)
Whiich subwoofer of the ones mentioned above will be able to produce any amount of bass in such a large area. and satellites front / center / surrounds. lets not even get there. If the room is a longish room if the sitting position is something like 25 feet or 30 feet away.
The problem will be further amplified

Just keep in mind the 200sqft living room. The speakers need to fill the room (displace lot of air) and not 'tickle' your ears with 'tuk tuk' sound :-)

I'm using Onkyo HTIB in a 18 x 20 feet bedroom and its pretty loud. I usually max out at 45 and it goes all the way to 75. And I use it for "normal" TV too with Tata Sky.

PS - Not sure there exist any other options for a max budget of 45K and a preferred budget of 20K.

Nice. I just did not think that the Onkyo would be able to do justice in large room. However considering the entire dimensions of the FM's room is 800 sq feet. i do forsee a problem even though the listening area is 400 sq feet.

However yes considering the Budget, there are very limited options.

Thanks guys for all your recommendations. I bot a Denon 1312 HTIB finally for 31k! It sounds great even though I have a large living room...but I need to keep the volume level above 80% for the theater effect...I'm quite satisfied with my purchase for the price I paid. Thanks again.

Congrats Jimmy,
Enjoy your new setup .. However refrain from taking the volume levels too high, the amp will start clipping which is a recipe for disaster
