If you guys purchased a panny in the last 8 or so months , while they were running the 1+2 (extended) years warranty and still havent got the 2 years extended warranty card , get it asap

Today contacted my nearest panny service centre for wall mounting my TV. Had a heated argument over the 1 month limit for wall mounting (free). I was also informed to get the first year warranty card and also the 2(extended) years warranty card within the end of 12 month time . According to service guy , they wont entertain a bill (which my dealer said is a substitute for warranty card) or other forms of warranty , they want genuine warranty card for servicing. So dont go by the word of dealers.

Naveen, thanks for sharing the info on warranty cards. I wonder how it works with online shopping sites? How does someone manage to get the card stamped or is the warranty valid even without a stamp?

Its wierd that Panny gives only a 1 month limit for mounting the TV. Most brands give a 1 year time limit from the date of purchase. I have a Sony and LG both of which have a limit of 1 year. In fact i got my sony mounted only 2 - 3 days before the 1 yr limit expired and my LG 9 months after purchase. Both done without any fuss at all and free of cost.

I have received the extended warranty card from the dealer after one week from purchase date. Clearly dated from 2011 to 2013.

Dealer name : Devi international (Bangalore).

Bought my Panny 42 inch plasma last month. Got the same reply from the dealer - "Bill is enough Sir". Called up service center, they say get it from the dealer. Dealer says i will have to get it from Panasonic.

Can anybody explain how the extended warranty card can be got. Thanks

hi guy's ...

i have a question to those who have purchased panny recently..

my 50 incher suddenly cracked all by itself in spider web form from inside and Panasonic is saying will not be treated under warranty for someone has hit it very hard thus it cracked from inside , thus complete TV and 65K is wasted

researched a little bit and found it is due to the thermal expansion and shrinkage of the glass and lot of people suffer form the same problem and lost there complete investment and peace..

what should i do??? guys pls suggest way out..

though i have sent mail to the panasonic help line and south india service head.

here is the whole letter for your ref" which i sent to the panasonic india h/o and south india

Dear

Pleasure talking to you today and your patient hearing to the concern we are facing currently, Pls find below details of my plasma tv Model TH-P50V20D / Bill no -/ DOP 18 oct -2011 /

I would like to bring to your notice that as per attached pictures of my Tv there is a spider web type breakin on the internal glass of the screen which happened all by itself with a buzz while tv was in operation for around 2-3 hours.

I was being told by the technician visiting us today ( while I complained under ref no ) that it is a physical damage which led to such a situation, we refute the claim STRONGLY as we were watching and suddenly the tv stopped working after a buzz ( we have no reason to be UNTRUE with facts here for sure.. ) . As i am made aware, such incidences are not new with plasma technology or with Panasonic or any other brands and failures do arise which have been reported by other plasma consumers earlier extensively EVEN in the threads below all over the world and is a very common problem due to poor wms

below quote 2 explains the situation further

Sometimes and internal component can suddenly blow with enough force to crack the plasma panel from behind. That would have been the loud boom (probably more like a pop or snap). It has historically happened mostly on Samsung and LG plasmas, and there have been a few reports of it happening on Panasonics as well.

the outer glass is intact and the inner (plasma) glass is what's broken, then that's good evidence that a component failure cracked the glass.

Boards fry, panels break.

Along with other serious researches and quotes as below

Quote 3

Thermal fatigue is the most important failure mode in plasma screen casting. Thermal fatigue cracks may be classified by their appearance in heat checks and stress cracks. The characteristic feature of heat checking is a net-shaped crack pattern which occurs predominantly on level surfaces due to change in surface tensile stresses. Stress cracks mainly appear as individual and clearly pronounced cracks as a result of stress concentrations due to the configuration of the cavity. Generally, thermal fatigue cracks will already appear after a few thousand cycles or even much earlier, i.e. in the low cycle fatigue regime.

Quote 4

Since glass is brittle and thermally insulating, significant thermal stresses, especially in larger components often lead to catastrophic failure. The warm expanded glass inside pushes outwards on the outer layers of glass, forcing them to be stretched with very little tolerance for being stretched and cannot expand very far without breaking. Any existing microscopic crack on a stretched surface will grow all the way through the thickness of the glass, abruptly.

We have bought this unit on LOAN and HARD earned money and had done a extensive research before finalizing Panasonic due to your extensive experience in manufacturing plasma screens and being superior to any other brand in terms of service and technology, it is fairly understood that it is a ONE ODD early technical failure and manufacturing defect of the screen and components which should be investigated thoroughly and is completely shattering our this belief currently and we seek your help to review our case with compassion and help replace / repair the unit earliest being just 10 months old and still covered under primary warranty and extended warranty of 2 years as well.

We have complete belief in the brand and its people backing it up and are sure we all superior std's of BRAND until now would be upheld.

Look forward to earliest swift resolution and response.

Warm regards

Can anybody explain how the extended warranty card can be got. Thanks

When I bought a panny LCD in 2010, the dealer asked me to fill up a form for extended warranty and sent it to Panasonic head office. IIRC, I got the extended warranty card within a week through speed post.

From what i was told by the panny service guys (PSG) , the warranty card SHOULD be provided within 15 days of purchase of the TV.

Either this way or you can scan the bill copy and send it to panny online CC. They will process it and might initiate the extended warranty.

The tedious process is to encourage only the customers who bought during the offer period. thats why they ask for scan copy or register from dealer itself. The problem is dealers care least and there isnt much follow-up

I too havent got the extended warranty card. Going to meet the dealer in person and tell him what PSG told me . Already informed him to arrange for warranty card , 2 weeks before.

Part of the issue lies with panasonic too.

hi Niftian,

Hi, I am new to this forum. this is my first post. i have had exactly the same problem . i am from bangalore. Panasonic claimed that it is a physical damage. needless to say that we have not damaged the televison. i have registered a compalint against them in the consumer court. what happened to your televison. Have they repaired it or not.

regards,

Hi Niftian,

i had purchased a panasonic v20d with 3 years warranty. the Problem with televison occured on dec 2013. they told the same story of spider crack and physical damage . After many mails and phone calls, the voice of customer team representative assured that corrective action will be taken, Only to go back on their commitment. Did they repair or replace your panel under warranty.
It looks like panasonic is washing their hand off with this line of logic. do revert. possibly there may be many cases like this in bangalore.

regards,

@niftian
was going through the forum and came across your post accidently,i dont know wat really happened in your case but if it is not yet resolved i would suggest you approach the district consumer forum for the redressal of your greivances along with documentary evidence of you claims,i am sure they will help you out, they usually do if you are right and can back your claim with evidence, take it from me as i am lawyer, you do have a case going by the links youve given supporting your claim.

I have a P42V20D plasma. And i have a defective A-Board atleast that's what the service center guy told me. The same board was replaced a year back when the TV was in warranty. Now they are asking me to pay Rs. 15000/- to get the A board replaced. I am sure i can get a second hand / used TV at this price and get the Aboard out of it.

Have you guys also experienced the A board issue?

My P42V20D also had an issue with the A board 2 years ago but was in warranty back then and was replaced.
