What RC solutions are recommended? I'm going to have a Harmony 650 available for use. Should I perhaps look for an RF solution?

(Ideally, I'd want something Linux friendly.)

That said, should I even bother? Should I perhaps plump for a tablet and control everything (XBMC) via that?

For PC remote controls, always buy MCE remote. Search ebay.com and import it through ishopinternational.com. Advantage of mce remote is that it can be configured easily. Compact wireless keyboards can also be used, but I prefer a remote control. If you already have a tablet, then there is no need to buy IR remote just for controlling XBMC. There are lots of remote control apps for xbmc.

An interesting product is FLIRC which is a small dongle and can be programmed to work with any remote control you have. I have ordered one, but unfortunately not received yet. Visit flirc.tv for details and ordering.

That looks really interesting! Do let us know how good it is once you receive it.

I ordered it on 21/01. They ship to India through UPS. The tracking shows upto 24 where it says international letter. There after no news. After one month I contacted FLIRC again and they told me to wait saying the shipping may take anywhere between 4 to 8 weeks to reach. I think it is somewhere lost during transit probably in Indian customs.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
