Yes, it is very much possible; if your have prior experience of changing or connecting/reconnecting HDD of the desktop, you can do it with ease, if you don't have that experience, I am sure, one of your friends has, get his / her help. BTW, most likely, your set-top box is fitted with 2.5 inch HDD, which can easily be fitted into any desktop or laptop.
